Thinking portion control/calorie count. Any suggestions or ideas? Trying to increase fiber intake, as well - thinking that may help me keep from snacking so much.

Everyone finds their way.. for me, when I started increasing fat and reducing carbs and sugar, things begin to click. At least one or two eggs in the morning, meat at lunch (usually steak sandwich or salad with chicken), and more meat with dinner and veggies... the more I read and hear, the more it seems clear that carbs and sugar are addictive, prone to increasing cravings, and also make me less likely to exercise (increased inflammation contributes to joint pain) and I think also affects my mood negatively. “Fiber” is too often code fore things like oatmeal, whole grain bread.. and that means more carbs.. again, everyone finds their way, some to vegan, some low fat.. but for ME, carbs and sugar are the devil and to be avoided.. especially “healthy” fruits and juices.. look at sugar content in orange juice compared to soda pop.. And then brutal and unmerciful honesty in how you record your calories every single day. Every. Single. One. And the math takes over...

Thank you for the advice! I'm not bad with sugar, but carbs are addictive, you are right! I'm trying to get more fiber from beans and fruits. Keep the advice and ideas coming - I'm open to all of the help I can get! ;)

And good point about logging every calorie. Try not to under-estimate either. Don't waste calories on drinks, and especially diet drinks; they're the worst....you're lying to your body and putting weird chemicals in it. Drink water, unsweet tea, and black coffee. I think it's ok to not count calories from unsweet tea and black coffee. Thoughts?

Ive kicked myself so much ..half of me should be missing..stop kicking because as I have learned in a difficult manner too it wont help and realize your being accountable and thats your first step to a fantastic journey to a better you. Its going to work for you.. you just need to figure out... just what will work for you . :)

Yes, we are trying to go unprocessed as much as possible; the chemicals in so much of what we eat are harmful and downright scary! Fresh whole foods are more expensive, but you can't skimp on health. I read some labels, and can't believe what they are feeding people.

I hate to get back on the scale after being off the plan I am on and eating all I want, but the shock of seeing how much you have gained is a huge motivator.

We’ve all been there! Forgive yourself and move on. One day at a time.

Trust me I,know how you feel last year I said I was gonna get healthy I weighed 170 got down to 155 and then just started slacking off and when I saw I was back to 170 and I beat myself yp over it and threw my hands up and said whatever. I just got on the scale a few days ago and it said 186!!! So I have started over big time, next time if I slip up I will not give up, I will continue on, just like you will!!
