I think I've hit an all-time low with my diet. I don't want to do this anymore. I want to enjoy meals with my family. I want to go out and enjoy time with my friends. I want to go to social gatherings and have FUN instead of being miserable. I KNOW everyone says in order to do this you have to change your way of life but my rality is that I would have to DIVORCE my life for it to change. Everything and everyone revolves around food. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm kidding myself to think that I could live the rest of my life with little to nothing of the foods that I love.

I found that if I don't tell my family that I am 'on a diet', they don't seem to notice that I'm eating what is good for me, instead of what is full of sugars (carbs). I know you can do it, and I want to do it, so if you want to be a buddy to me, so we can chat with each other and give encouragement, I am here. Just think positive, and keep your nose to the 'meat, eggs, fish and cheese' way. This time I am going to do it! Message me, or add me as a friend. ;o) Cindi

I know how your feeling but you really can have it all. You may need to look at things from a bit of a different angle that's all. Instead of focusing on what you can't have you can research ways to really enjoy the things that you can have. There are a few sites on the web that have great Atkins recipes you can look into. I've been finding more aways to make things that I miss sometimes too. Can't have a peanut butter cup but I can have a square of Lindt dark chocolate with 1/2 Tbsp natural peanut butter on it. I can't have a baked potato but I can have mashed cauliflower with all my favorite baked potato toppings on it. I think a lot of successes are more from our attitudes than anything else. If we don't feel deprived then we will be happier and more apt to succeed. At this point all of my family and friends are used to me turning down some foods and are more encouraging then they were just a month or so ago. I think you can really do this and you really want to do this. Some days aren't great but all in all it is worth it and so are you.

Than maybe your on the wrong diet. I do WW and I eat what I love but in smaller portions. I eat out at fast food places and go to parties. I try to do a modified Atkins most of the time while on it, but you don't have to. It looks like your in maintenance mode. Your diet needs to be sustainable for the rest of your life, so if your unhappy than your need to find something that will work for you and allow you to eat the foods you love. Go to skinnytaste.com or emilybites.com or cookinglight.com. They all have great recipes lightened up and lower calories. Foods we eat all the time. You can also try carb cycling where you have higher and lower carbs so you can have more foods you love with carbs and still keep the weight off. I wish there was an easy answer but you will have to watch what you eat for the rest of your life to keep it off. I have resigned myself, so I am trying to find a balance.

No wonder you feel frustrated - it appears you weigh yourself every day! I would not handle the fluctuations very well if I chose to weigh daily. Give yourself s break - you are so very close to your goal!

Thanks guys - in a little bit better place this morning. I think, Suzi - that you're right on track with what I'm thinking. I LIKE the way I feel physically when I'm low-carbing, so I don't see any reason why i can't try most days to go low carb, and combine it with a plan I bought a while back called food lovers - it's all about eating fats and carbs in the right combinations - seems to be a sound plan. HCB - I WISH I was close to my goal - I just set little ones to help keep me motivated. I actually need to lose about 50 more pounds - lol.

Hi Lisa. Glad you're feeling better today. I'm sorry it's so tough. I know exactly how you feel. All my friendships revolve around food and alcohol. I have been avoiding some of my friends in order to stay on track but that is not the way to live our lives. We can find a happy middle ground. Artichoke dip with celery and vodka martinis make the world go 'round on girl's night out. And bbq chicken and grilled asparagus for the family dinner-something everyone can enjoy.
