SeanMata's Journal, 21 January 2018

So today is the first day of my diet, and I completely hate every second so far. I feel like I am hungry and I almost gave in and went for a pizza, but I have been controlling myself. I am allowed 2000 calories a day, which is pretty good, but still that is less than what I normally eat. I am craving the chips sitting in my pantry so badly right now, but instead I am eating a tuna lettuce wrap. It will be worth it in the end, I know it will!

don’t ever purposely stop eating foods you enjoy. You have 2000 calorie limit right? Incorporate them into your 2000 daily limit. Enjoy dieting. Boom! done. It’ll make dieting more sustainable in the long run.

I like to alter meals like pizza, spaghetti, rice or whatever it is I am craving, take the parts I am allowed to eat or should eat in moderation and see if I can satisfy my cravings that way... maybe make a creamy tomato sauce with melted cheese and pepperoni and eat it over cauliflower or salad... I started replacing all of my usual carbs favorites with a handful of chopped salad... sandwich bread, pizza crusts, pasta, rice, bagels, tortillas, noodles now are a handful of salad.

For those of us who are counting calories, a food scale is your best friend! If you want chips, have a serving.... but that's the trick. Portion control! As long as you're operating in a caloric deficit, you'll lose weight. CIvCO

I enjoy using my scale. snack making got easier and easier making them myself instead of buying pre-made kinds with added sugars and salt I don't need

People keep coming into the Common Sense Keto group after damaging their bodies with the CICO mis-concept. And if they listen to coach Jack's advice, guess what? ;) http://commonsenseketogenics.com/?s=cico

It sounds like a realistic amount of daily calories, not saying it`s easy! We don`t have any food in the house to tempt us and we are fortunate that it worked for everyone.

The first couple of days is the hardest. 2000 is enough for you to enjoy things you enjoyed, just do in less nd find low calorie options to add in..

Thank you all for the support, and yes it got easier, I decided to not eat the pizza or the chips, and ate chicken with some Parmesan cheese, and tomato sauce, and I felt a whole lot better!

don't have foods you know you can end up devouring in the house.

Amen, that is the only thing that works for me! If it's in the house, it seems to food calls to me, lol..

Lots of great tips here. Another thing that helped me quite a bit was planning my meals a day in advance (rather than logging after). You'll be surprised how quickly some of these cravings will diminish. Don't let yourself get too hungry! GOOD LUCK

Take a trash bag and go through your cabinets. I know it's painful, but you only have to do it once. Seal up the bag and TAKE IT OUTSIDE. Get it out of your house. That's the ONLY way to keep yourself on track unless you're perfect. (I know I'm not. I had to do the same thing.) :) Also, I got a bag of baby carrots. I distribute them into about 6-8 snack-size bags and have them ready in my refrigerator. I tend to eat when I'm stressed or bored, and I would just go a-graze 'n. So, I grab one of those. It's only about 35 calories and they are actually good for me. Plus, it gives me my muchies "fix" so I don't get off track. They give me that crunch sensation and help with my need (bad habit) to mindlessly shove food in my mouth. You CAN DO THIS! I'm over 50 and thought women who were post-menopausal had a nearly impossible chance of getting the weight off. That what I always heard and I made it my silly excuse. I'm down 35 over the past year (slowed down in the fall, but maintained even over the holidays). I have about 20-25 to go and began stage 2 this week. A lot of my health issues are going away with the weight as well. It's worth it. You're going to feel like a million bucks! Good luck!

I say if you are going to mindlessly shove something into your mouth, it might as well be something healthy! on that note it makes sense to clear out all the unhealthy food from your kitchen so that when you have a snack attack the only choices you have are healthy food!
