Well kids, my house is ALMOST done. The ceiling in the spare bedroom has been patched and I am pretty sure the only thing I have left to do before moving in is paint it. It has been a productive month or so for me. BUT I AM STILL SCARED TO MOVE IN and the breakin on Friday night hasn't helped at all. My neighbor walked into 2 guys trying to rob his house around 8:45 PM and the crazy thing was I was inside working on the house and didn't hear anything. I was leaving around 9 an my neighbors said "Hey did you hear what happened?" So they filled me in. For those of you who don't know, my dad owns the house I am about to rent and his bar is right next door. So the guy I know that got broke in to ran into my dad's bar yelling "call the cops!" They guys broke the glass out of the side door to get in. He has replaced the door with a steel one with no windows. I really hope the extra money I save is worth not feeling safe. I've been spoiled with a nice neighborhood my whole life so this will be a change to say the least.
My bf's parents are coming by tonight to pick up some stuff that we are putting in their garage sale so last night I cleaned like crazy. His mom is ANAL and judgemental; however, I still like her actually...We are going to Barney's Furniture store to look for a new table tonight. Might fit a work out in. I didn't last night- got off at 6 then made pizzas at my dad's bar then cleaned til almost 10:30. This is getting long and excessive haha. Have a great day :)

omg-that's horribe. I'm sorry to hear about the break-in. Will you be living on the 2nd floor? I hope the steel door helps. Did the perp steal anything? I hate that we have to live in fear-and that we can't do things like go for a walk in the park without being paranoid or scared. May I suggest some self-defense classes? It will give you peice of mind and its a really good workout!

I definitely second living on the second floor. It'll give you some space (and time) between yourself and any scary people, god forbid. I'm glad everything is coming together so nicely! And about your BF's mom... if she says anything, she has to understand the house is in the middle of being fixed up! No judging until the final product!! (or no judging at all!) I'm sure it's going to look fantastic :)

Will your place have an alarm system? If not it may be worth it to add that into the budget. Not that I would want to scare you anymore than you already are. Enjoy the furniture shopping. That is usually a hit or miss for me. Good luck.

Yikes!! That's scary about the break-in!! Keep curtains on your windows when you're not around and keep expensive things out of sight..

And get a big dog if you don't already have one..

It is only a 1 story house with a basement :-/ I live on the 2nd floor in my apt building right now and I am NEVER worried. The guys didn't get anything that they noticed, but when the owner walked in they were holding his laptop. I would think the cops would fingerprint the laptop to try and catch the attempted robbers lol. This town never does anything about stuff like that. My mom's bf said he could put an alarm system in my house for $250 so I might do that when I get the money, hopefully it won't be too late. We have all the blinds shut and plan on keeping it that way. Thought about the dog thing but my cat is an asshole and I can't chance him getting territorial and pissing on the new carpet to "mark" it or the new dog peeing inside til it gets trained. Sticky situation.
