Where to start... hmm. When I was 17 I started developing almost random medical problems that were all associated with other medical conditions that I had never had before. And on top of all of this, I gained 80 lbs in 3 months, when no one could tell me why, I mostly accepted it, and didnt do anything to change what was happening. I was also fairly depressed.

After about 2 years, my GYN ran different hormone tests since I was not having normal cycles and other issues with my reproductive system. That led to me traveling to a specialist 3 hours away. Who finally was able to tell me what was wrong with me after all this time. My adrenal glands are hyperactive and produce more testosterone and other male hormones that while are still present in the female body that are at much lower levels.

up until recently (and we're talking 10 years have gone by) I had not found a Dr that would actually listen to me and understand that while I am overweight and need to lose weight, my problem is not over eating as most believe. No it's not nearly that simple. Truth be known I have a hard time eating, and recently after meeting with a health coach at my work, I have been trying to up my daily calorie intake, Sadly for me to actually push myself to reach more than 1000 calories a daily is very challenging for me. But due to such low intake of calories my metabolism has as she put it stalled, and my body is storing everything in a form of starvation mode.

But in Oct 2011 I met a wonderful Dr who is the first in 10 years to actually get my hormone levels to "normal" ranges, the down side is that while his treatment is working, he has doubled my steroid dose that I have to take daily, when I first started taking it I did not notice the extra weight gain until I went to my primary Dr for a illness, when she weighed me and I was 240, I was so upset, that day I decided I had to start working on this. So since I do not really have any support at home, and I randomly found this website I thought I would come and join and be a part of a community like myself.

Forgive my book, I tend to ramble at times.

One of the great things about FatSecret to me is being able to tell someone else I know how you feel, and I do. A little more than a year ago I was diagnosed with lupus, so like you, I have to take a drug to keep my body in balance. Steroids are so not fun. I reached my "I can't take this anymore" level when I was almost three hundred pounds. I've lost almost fifty so far, and if I can do it, so can you. It's not easy, but we can do it. Congratulations on taking these important steps.

Thank you :-) I have tried before, but with my husband, he decided he didnt not want to do the program anymore so then I gave up and quit with him. that was almost 2 years ago. This time I'm doing it myself, and even without his support, I have my friends and family to encourage me :-)
