Anybody else have a kidney stone issue ever on Atkins? I'm on a medicine that can cause kidney stones and since Atkins is high protein of course the problem seems to be occuring - though I'm going to call my doctor today to get off of the medicine that causes the kidney stones ASAP.... I have a physical scheduled next Tuesday... not with my regular doctor but at the VA - veteran's administration as I'm a veteran too - I'm 45 - I realize not to panic and get overly worried about it and just get off of the medicine that is causing the problem and then the issue will solve itself... :)

Often kidney stones are caused by calcium. The medicine that you are taking may interfere with calcium absorption and that could be what leads to the kidney stones. Of course there are other causes but I don't think that eating a low carb diet is one of them.

Until you see your doctor drink LOTS of water. Cut out coffee completely if you haven't already. Good luck. Sometimes KS are hereditary.

Thanks for the advice - my problem seems to have abated for now - I saw the doctor Friday - he wanted me to have an IVP - but it was too difficult to get to the hospital - now a friend she said she'll take me later in the week if I get one scheduled...I will stop coffee now... I noted these two comments on Sunday evening. The pain is gone right now but I know can come back at any time so I need to get checked out with an IVP...Thanks slease and sararay...
