wichitaks's Journal, 03 May 2012

I have been MIA the last few days. With my Grandpa still in the hospital and being out of town with convention in orlando, then training in Chicago I feel like I am been put through the ringer.
I am finally home and back at it full force. I am meeting with my workout buddy at 8:00 tonight to kick it super hard at the gym.

While I was out of town I had VERY little control over my food choices. During our training breakfast was on our own and the hotel had some great options. I did egg whites and fruit and one day i did have some Cheereos. Lunch was provided for us and we did not have much of a choice. most days there was one option and only once was there a salad. I tried to do good but I still gained. I know some of it is water weight and will come off but I know some of it is actual weight Although I am not noticing a size change so maybe some of it is muscle from the workouts.
Where I was we had little to no reception so I was HORRIBLE about keeping things logged. I did work out most days Though!!!!
When we were in Chicago there was an anytime fitness right next to the hotel and I got some serious cardio in YIPPIE.

My Grandpa is still in the hospital as expected. They decided on Monday to put in a pace maker and I think that will be good for him. My grandma was able to move her Chemo treamnts to the same hospital he is in until Friday and they were able to cancel her radiation treatments until next week as well so she has been able to stay down here with Grandpa!!!!!

I got to see him last night on the way home from the airport and I also stopped by on my way to the office this morning to see him and I will see him on my way home from work as well. He is looking soooo much better. Yesterday they started to allow him to walk to the bathroom with assistance and he did once but I think it was a bit to early for him. He was totally worn out for almost an hour just from walking the 10 steps to the bathroom. BUT we are looking for progress not perfection right now so all is looking so much better for him!!!!
Thank you all for your prayers. I know they have helped so much

So happy for you and your family. My grandfather had open heart surgery back in 1972 (one month before I was born) and lived an additional 18 years....and that was back then, so just think of all the advances they've made since then. 'Gratz also on working in the exercise whenever you could and doing your best to stick with your program. Hang in there, you can do this!

Sounds like you did pretty ok on the food and excellent on the exercise. Great job! Glad your grandpa is doing better!!

You have done so well with food and exercise considering you were traveling and were a captive audience, plus all the crisis with your grandparents. I bet you probably haven't gained, and once you get back into your usual routine and drink a lot of water and work out a few times, probably by next week you will be back on track and you might even post a loss. My thoughts and prayers have been with you and your family, and I just want to say you are a real inspiration for making your program a priority during all of this chaos!

Aww thank you I am working hard at staying focused. Last night I had a great workout with a friend last night. 40 minutes cardio, and 40 minutes of weight/resistance training. I did lots of squats, inner and outer thigh stuff, 50 crunches, 30 leg lifts, 5 planks, and arm stuff. Woooo. I will just do cardio tonight and call it good.

You're doing great. Just keep moving along with it and you'll feel great just knowing you're on the right track. With all of the added stress, that alone can have an effect on our bodies. I'd say as long as you're being mindful of your food choices, don't worry. If you really want to track, just jot down your food intake on a sheet of paper; that way you'll at least have some idea. Keep it up girl!
