Ieksie's Journal, 17 November 2017

Honestly, it seems that I'm maintaining weight & NOT losing, as I want to. I really don't know what's going on... I've been hovering around this weight since Sept.

Yesterday I pigged out at work!!! It was like a monster that awoke inside of me, but I blame shark week. I'm pretty sure the stress hormone cortisol is also playing a big role... I think I need a proper rest. Which brings me to my next point. ALCOHOL... in the week. I NEED to stop that. I need to cope with work sh*t on my own. Stopping smoking also did not make it easier! It's been 9 weeks now.

SkinnyMaringa suggested I change the things I eat, because my body might have gotten used to the food I feed it, over & over again, so I've done that. My bowel movements are also not what it should be, I can go 3 days without any movement. Counting carbs/working with macros is difficult, maybe because I refuse to up my protein with whey powder, but also can't add eggs to my dinner every night. Then, also, I know I shouldn't just rely on the scale, because I have started cross fit again in October & I have gone every week since then. I am measuring my cm's as well, wish I could do that weekly as well, but that's just not feasible.

Anyways, that's my #rant. Hola weekend!!!

When you smoke your metabolism increases and when you stop it takes a while to re-adjust. Give yourself some time to get used to not having that hand to mouth comfort and give in to your cravings for a while. Ad we go into festive season it won't get any easier. Ultimately the best trick is a regular calorie deficit and avoiding your inflammatory foods. Only you will know what they are. Continue maintaining and then grab the bull by the horns when you are ready. Enjoy the weekend!! xx

Hang in there Leksie! At least you're not gaining and you are still going to crossfit regularly so all good. Stopping smoking is really hard - I know - I did it almost 7 years ago now and unfortunately almost reversed all the weight I'd lost before that going to Weight Watchers. I believe you can give up smoking without putting on weight, but it will be a bit harder so strongs!!! I've also had a problem with 'regularity' so I've started taking a mild daily probiotic I bought at Dischem - I take it once a day with food at noon when I break my fast. Seems to be helping and I think the 10g of chia seeds a day is helping too. I'm sure you'll be over this plateau soon though - just keep at it! Have a great weekend!!!

I did everything, counted my calories, increased my gym workouts, with no success. I were hunger all the time, but still not loosing any weight. Out of desperation I changed to Tim Noak's banting life style and had immediate results. After 4 months I am down from a size 38 to a 34 and without being hunger all the time. Guess some diets work for others and some don't. I am delightful with the new me and am maintaining my banting lifestyle. No turning back to old habits for this one.

I was in a slump like that - but check out www.theiflife.com - those daily “mini fasts” will help you jump the hurdle past just maintaining.

PSM also plays a huge role. We tend to retain more water and can actually end up putting on 3 kg in that week along🙈 But please keep at it. Don’t give up. W

I'm also trying to cut on alcohol during the week... But I think it's really so much harder for you, since you also stopped smoking. Well done on reaching 9 weeks so far!!! I agree with BBO - as long as you're trying. It will come off!! I watched That Sugar Film, last night on YouTube. Flippen amazing! Made me cry a bit, since I give my son mostly hidden sugars. But what an eye opener!! Don't think you have a sugar problem. But just a fascinating documentary if you feel like it!

The carb diet does constipate a person. And since everything in the diet is meaty or seedy it blocks you up. Drink a lot of sparkling water. I think the bicarb in there helps the tummy out. And well done on quiting smoking.
