Fitness MAS's Journal, 31 October 2017

It's been a really long time since my last weigh-in. Subconsciously perhaps the hesitation has to do with the fact that I have been "bad" since football season had started. The diet has been neglected and a lot more sitting around watching games and drinking beer/eating wings rather than being outdoors and being active is taking place.

Historically, this time of the year is a challenge for me as the days get darker, weather gets colder, and holiday eating comes in excess with Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. Very easy to fall into the trap of weight gain and poor eating/lifestyle decisions. I fully acknowledge the fact that it is taking place, but for some reason I just let it go despite of it.

That being said, I feel incredibly fortunate that my local gym started a 3 week weight loss challenge this week. There was an entry fee to join, but the incentive is that the $$ will be put back into my pocket based on weight loss/percentage body fat decrease over the 21 day period. If I gain weight, I add a $1 for every lb. If I lose weight, I get $1 back. And the overall "winner" splits the pot. If weight loss and feeling good again about my body wasn't incentive enough, the cash reward certainly makes it more enticing and to refocus. This challenge was essentially a blessing in disguise to get me off my butt again and work for it.

Time to get back on the diet and exercise train. Day 1 of my 21 day challenge starts today...
195.3 lb Lost so far: 7.7 lb.    Still to go: 10.3 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
