carmel023's Journal, 31 October 2017

So it has been a long time since I have been on fatsecret but I remember really enjoying the journal feature and wanted to list my biggest fitness accomplishment thus far which is completing my first marathon and as every one knows go big or go home. So it was my first world major marathon. Unfortunately I was plagued by plantar fascistic and tendinitis which I thought it would be a breeze to get through. When committing to a training plan with long miles so days I literally thought it was outside my realm due to the pain but after spending so much money and wanted to complete my first marathon this year I mustered the strength and finished. Like Nike states just do it, so hard headed as I am I did it. Also, this was my first time visiting a medical tent as well at a race. Will I do another marathon too early to say but I am curious to see how I do when my foot is not injured. I am not sure when you get over plantar so right now I am pretty good of course not in the morning and I can not go barefoot not even to the bathroom at night due to the pain. I run about 4-5 slow miles 10-12 min pace in the morning and 3-4 in the evening the same pace which is something I have been doing appr for three years so for some I know this is too much but I am a creature of habit and I have built up to running frequently. My foot feels pretty good up to mile 8 but once I go to mile 10 I can feel that it is just too much and I am going to be in pain. On most long runs I can barely get out of the car without agonizing pain. I run with a slightly slower group and really want to increase my speed or my endurance distance both are within my reach but podiatrist said decrease your speed or miles if I want to continue running. So I have to shove my goals to the back seat for now. My foot has improved and right now keeping at the lower miles I am about 80 percent but once I go to over a 10k it is back to 60%.
