mariezzz's Journal, 28 October 2017

I finally did it! Today I reached my goal weight! I started January 1st and have lost 71 lbs. I averaged a loss of 7 pounds a month which sounds slow to me now, but looking back, the time has flown by. I went down from a size 18/29 to a 4/6. I feel so much better and I am pretty proud of myself. I have not been this weight since grade school and now I'm in my late 50s.

However, an even bigger challenge begins now. I have ALWAYS gained back the weight I have lost. I have tried to make this attempt different by changing my life style rather than going on a 'diet'. Also, weight gain at this point in my life causes a lot of pain in my joints, loss of mobility, and compromises my health and potential life span. So here I go... Time to move on and face the challenge. I may have some loose skin, but I don't want to fill it up with fat ever again.

Have a great weekend!

Amazing progress! I have only been on a few weeks but I get lots of inspiration from all these success stories. I still have 16 lbs to go to reach my target but I'm sure I will make it. Thanks for th einspirations

I have had the loose skin problem too. I do dry brushing a couple of times a week, use a nubby brush daily, and wear compression garments to bed. After about 3 weeks of this routine, I see clear improvement.

Congratulations!!! For the loose skin, cupping massage or a fascia wand can help tighten it up!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and awesome support! I intend to continue weekly weigh-ins and journal both the good and bad results. With visitors, travel and the holidays looming, the next few months will be a challenge. This community provides a haven for me to express my thoughts with like-minded people. Even if we all pursue our goals in different manners, we all have the same objectives!

Congratulations... research shows you may not be able to go back to a "normal" diet because you mat gain weight. So, keep in mind you may need to stay a little bit under what is considered standard diet. Apparently, our bodies want to go back to our higher weights.

congratulations! That's just awesome. I too have always regained my weight. I am currently watching the scale creep upward. I've gained between 10 and 15# this summer. I'm just sick about it nut I can't seem to keep my motivation up. Good luck to you on your journey. Stay ever vigilant.

this is great!!!!! Now for the hard part, but I bet you can do it! I've lost it and gained it back a couple of times, but hoping when I get there this time will have the guts, willpower to make it stick, getting too old for this!!!
