Hello all, New here... Here is my Bio-ish lol

Doc says I am not in good shape, ( altho I thought round was a shape... ) I guess I need to change a few things. Starting with lowering my cholesterol, and losing 28 lbs, My exercise is limited as I have had a series of 8 minor back surgeries. I also have not worked outside the home in 8 years, Own a very good eBay Bussiness ) and I am/was a stay at home mom of 6 ( ages 22-20-18-17-16-8 ) and homeschool. ( but going back to work very soon feel the need to get out the house :D ( starting at Target :/ the first of the month. )

I am T2D, controlled by oral meds, fell off the wagon so to speak went into a severe depressive state, A1C is now 9.2 up from a great maintained 6.1 :( Cholesterol is off the charts literally, so I am now on a statin to help with that, on a different med to help with blood sugar as Januvia was aking me sick, and now going to try the Jardiance.

I do not like to eat meat, I am a Pescatarian (a person who eats seafood but not other types of meat. Pescatarians are similar to vegetarians, but the difference is that pescatarians eat fish and shellfish in addition to an otherwise vegetarian diet.)

I have a bad weakness for chips >.< Being Diabetic, I have trouble eating as I am used to eating things like pasta ( I cut pasta out completely ( really want a pasta salad ) rare occasion eat whole wheat bread, I dabble with rice still, not large amounts but I love sushi, Potatoes I can do without, I do not crave them, I snack on too many carrots, but I am a huge veggie lover ( imagine that right? ) also love fruits of all kinds <3

I love weird foods, that are finally becoming more readily available, love Cactus, Jack Fruit, Snails, Seaweed Salads, all the weird food you now see in your local markets.

Welcome! I’m kind of new to this site too. I purchased this book from the hungry girl collection called “clean and hungry obsessed”. I’ve tried a few of the recipes, which used mostly veggie, and I do eat meat. I think you might like it. Hope you try it out.

Welcome and thanks for your honesty. I was diagnosed T2D 4 years ago--I got a lot of good nutrition information from a class offered through my doctor's office. Some good rice substitutes--wild rice (not really rice) and frozen veg section has "riced vegetables" that are much lower carbs, but still feel like rice. I'm still working on pasta subs--my mom used to put marinara sauce over cottage cheese, which I thought was weird when I was younger, but that sounds good to me now (kind of like lasagna). Also there is some lower carb pasta and I cannot remember the brand name. Some of Jane Fonda's "Prime Time" DVDs are good, gentle workouts--some of which involves walking in place or doing some exercises while seated. Your doctor might have some good suggestions to help you exercise in safe and healthy way.

By the way, the exercise journal on this site is very useful. For example, since midnight yesterday, I slept 6 hours, did desk work for 6 hours, drove for 1 hour, and taught a dog obedience class (on my feet almost the whole time) for 3 hours. It ended up burning over 2800 calories and I didn't do any "formal exercise."

@bernicedansbury, I will have to look into that book! @Kata Strophic, if I can't be honest and open with everyone else there's no way I'll be honest with myself, 😁marinara sauce on cottage cheese, that just sounds so yummy, falls into my weird food category haha. Pasta is hard to sub, Walmart carries a pasta zero, it has a weird smell and texture, but I really don't mind it from time to time. Have been walking around the block the past few weeks, I have a 9 y/o Chihuahua and a 2-year old Chihuahua and a four and a half month old Great Dane, normally the kids walk them, but I have started, so I am getting in a few steps there. Going back to work will also get me moving, I have went to several diabetic classes, and i do great forma about a month... Then I get tired of salads haha. Again being that I don't eat me it's really hard being diabetic because vegetarians and alike eat a lot of starchy Foods and pastas and rice in breads so having to cut all that out I thought I was going to just die and whittle away to nothing 😂 boy was I wrong that's also when I hurt my back that started having the surgery is where I became very very inactive I didn't do it from the better couch I didn't do it at all the only exercise I got was going to the bathroom 😢 I had to have an emergency hysterectomy and it seem like everything snowballed from there that's what I be found out I was also diabetic and I went from a comfortable 175 pounds to 235 within a matter of just a little bit of time and then I was able to exercise some of that off but then the back surgeries started to happen, then I drop down to 215 and stay there for what seems like forever then I was able to drop down to 208 and that is where I am now and dropping the 28 lbs will get me to 180 where I'd like to be. which will also help my cholesterol and diabetes of course.

Hi Becky!Welcome! My daughter has had back surgeries as well but she can swim and that is the best exercise ever. She can burn way more calories in the pool than I can in the gym. Just a thought!
