ShyGuy's Journal, 09 April 2012

As I get ready for my morning workout, I can't help but think, holidays are, and probably always will be, my Achilles' heel; when it comes to eating. I got a plate of Easter dinner, from my neighbor, yesterday, and it was packed with a lot of my favorites. I'll be finishing it up today, for dinner, however, in the past, I would have eaten it all in one sitting. I just didn't feel the need to even try it this time. I guess I'm feeling glad that, I've finally gotten past the need to be a part of the "clean plate club", as my mom used to call it; which is probably where my overeating got it's start. No regrets though; I knew what was coming my way, and I know that I'll get back on track. I think I'm getting better at it though; on Thanksgiving I had enough, to-go, plates stacked up to last me a week; this was only one, and will be finished today. So, my Diet Calendar will have some omissions today, and I'll be back on track tomorrow. So sue me. LOL :-) Off to my workout. :-)

Way to go...the "clean plate club" and "children starving in China" were such horrible things to be told as children. Had I been smart enough in my earlier years, I should have just boxed up the surplus and sent it off to China... Sounds like you went into this holiday with a strategy and that is a win-win for everyone.

I was in the "clean plate club" too, but more out of necessity as food was scarse at that time. I am still kind of like that, but take much less on my plate now, just what I need. Of course yesterday I did not need the cake I managed to put away. :(, but today we are back to normal. We have no regrets. Have a good one my friend.

clean plate club memeber here. am and always will be. waste not want not. of course i've had to ammend the rules to allow to-go boxes at restaurants. but i won't throw away food! ever, unless it's too poisoned, or too moldy to pick around the good spots! :-)

Thanks ladies. :-) I don't like to waste food either, but my days of eating everything on my plate, just because it's there, are over. I'd rather finish it the next day, that way I'm neither overeating, nor letting it go to waste. I'd actually planned on having some beef shortribs, which I'd forgotten to take out the freezer, or a ribeye steak, and some veggies, for my Easter dinner; but it was hard to turn down the offer of a plate; my neighbor is a good cook. The steak will have to wait until tomorrow. LOL :-)
