Registered at runreg for my 1st 5K yesterday at lunch, race closest to me is scheduled at the end of October. Stayed on the site to long then got possesed to run one today, insane right? I told my 15 year old this morning what I was doing at 10 am and he asked to join.

I beat him across the finish line! This was our 1st 5k. I shaved almost 30 second of my minute/mile pace. I didn't stop. He stopped 5 times. Proud of him, all of 98 lbs soaking wet.

That's great for both of you! I only did a 5K once, I think it was 2003 or 2004. I had been running for many months 4 miles on a trail by my house so 5K seemed easy. I wasn't fast, finished in the middle of the pack around 10 1/2 minute miles. Seems so long ago. Kept thinking I'd try to do a half marathon since one was done on the trail by my house every year but never go up to that.

Thx all. My legs are sore but heart is strong. Part of this event took us onto a gravel road with horses running by and dodging manure. On my 5k playlist, "save the horse ride the cowboy" came on and felt like abandoning my run, jumping on a horse and riding into town to grab a nice cold beer. What a great day!

Really admire runners...never could myself. Now, just want to walk more. All at our own pace but you runners are an inspiration. Thanks for the pics and posts.
