Only 3.5lbs this month. So frickin annoying. Exercise matters. I threw my back out then got bursitis in my hip so I haven't been able to exercise and without fail it slows things down for me. It's 5 days to my 49th birthday and I had a goal of 154 for that date. How the heck can I lose 2.6lbs in the next 5 days. It's a psychological thing. I want to do it. I know it's petty, I know it's not a sprint, I know how far I've come....I'd still like to hit this goal. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
156.8 lb Lost so far: 58.2 lb.    Still to go: 16.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Hang in there. I know it's rough right now and you have goals you want to accomplish, but sometimes things don't go to plan. And you have to take care of your body first and let it heal before pushing it towards your goals. :) Happy early birthday!! And I hope the rest of the week is better for you.

Yaaaaaay! You've made better progress than me.. I've had dramatically worse bursitis since a fall on 5th July and back surgery 2 weeks ago.. Keep on going, I know it's hard and really feel your pain and frustration but you'll get there!! With all your health obstacles you're doing great Well done Enjoy your birthday 🎉

Wow, looking at your food diary you seem to be doing well (most of the time) on carbs and way low on calories. Not trying to be a jerk, but are you logging everything that you are consuming? Not just food, but drinks as well?

Life-altering major losses, especially in clusters, tend to diminish sentimentality around both number goals and big days. Haha that's not a suggestion, just gallows humor. I'll look at your logs, sometimes I have workable tactics.

OK, here's what I would do: take it from the inflammation angle. It looks like you're not eating much, but that most of what you are logging could contribute to inflammation. Somebody medical please jump in and explain the link to weight for me here! --- I would cut out all dairy (even splash of 1/2&1/2, Tbsp parmesan, etc., sorry) and completely avoid processed meats (incl. bacon, also sorry). I would avoid saturated fats and trans fats. I would avoid anything known to cause bloating; nuts and most seeds would be out for me, personally, even though they're on the non-inflammation lists. --- I would find a tea or herbal tea I like and do whatever it takes to maximize water intake within whatever range is personally healthful. I would temporarily give up coffee in favor of a strong tea (a fermented green that steeps up thick black would be my choice) and use coconut oil and/or ghee instead of cream. --- If I had access to good salmon and fresh artichokes, I would eat those. I would keep eating eggs, I think?but would spring for local kale-fed ones or the closest possible. Would not eat grain-fed factory chicken eggs if aiming for quick de-flammation and associated weight loss. --- I would supplement D3, preferably in sublingual liquid form, and minerals, and some B-vitamins, avoiding B6. --- I would stick to maximum 8-hour eating window. I would sleep as much as possible. --- What kinds of exercise are you able to do comfortably now? --- Like CB said, log absolutely everything (yes I know that's real rich for me to suggest, since I'm primarily photo-logging for the moment) even seasonings, low-calorie beverages, chewing gum, breath mints, so your team-mates/cheering section (and we're all rooting for you!) can point out things like some rare effect you didn't know sorbitol might be having on you. There's a wealth of insight here, but for goals with tight deadlines, that support requires complete transparency. All of this just what i would do, knowing what i do about my body; you're the one with experience and wisdom of your own body. In no way do I mean to invalidate that wisdom or be as much of a pedant as this wall of text comes across.

OK, just re-read your post and understand the exercise thing. Sigh. Can you do passive stretching, and relaxation techniques? not to burn calories but to lower cortisol. --- Nutritionally, if I had your goal I would lower protein and raise good fats, and eat vegetables for omega-3 balance to meats. But definitely supplement minerals and salt. --- Whether any of this is appealing for you to try or not, now I'm inspired to do this myself for post-pizza recovery. It was low carb, but lots of cheeses and processed meats.

Thanks guys. Yes, I log everything. My calorie intake is definitely not the issue, hence the frustration. I also only eat local free range eggs I get from a friends chickens. The bacon is also gluten/sugar and nitrate feee. I eat only grass fed organic meats. I do think I need to cut down on the coffee and that I need a higher fat ratio. I generally keep carbs under 10% which works for me. My fats are around 60% in general and protein around 30%. I lose better if the fat is 70% and protein is 20% but to be quite frank I also get dangerously loose bowels when I do that and that is not good. I think a fast is a very good idea to get over this hump but I have never done an extended fast. I do 18/6 or 16/8 intermittent fasting every day. I was in a the ER with the bursitis on Tuesday and was told no exercise at all till it settles down. I truly appreciate the feedback and in no way take offense to any queries. Thanks again.

I also take magnesium citrate, D3 and B12 vitamins, and drink a lot of water.

The fastest way to take off non-water weight that I know, is to do an Atkins "fat fast" for 2-3 days. Drink lots of water, eat small meals (Dr Atkins called them "feedings") with as near to 90% fat as you can, while staying under your normal daily calorie limit. Since you are already eating low carb, you should see several pounds gone. Supplementing with ketones can also help. On a no-food fast, I lose too much water and muscle weight, and the water comes right back on.

I don't have any advice - you have done so well! And I am not on a low carb eating plan so I can't really relate. It sounds like your plan works for you and once you can be a little bit more active your issue will work itself out. I would do what the doctor says and take it easy until you are better and don't feel bad about it.

Oh my goodness. The Dr Atkins fat fast sounds so interesting but it seems more daunting than a complete fast. What do you eat. I'd love to try it over the weekend, but how can you eat 90% fat. Ps..not a fan of cream cheese or peanut butter.

It's pretty easy. Mascarpone cheese, triple cream brie, tuna with lots of mayo, avocado, ground beef cooked in butter or coconut oil, macadamia nuts, pecans - all are up in the 90% range. Each "meal" is small, 200-250 calories, 5 to 7 times per day. The high fat makes each meal very filling. I have little containers I pack with snack-size portions to take to work or in my purse.
