When you're in Walmart and at the protein bars looking for the perfect one and you see a lady reach for a big box of cliff bars and it takes everything in you not to tell her those are the worst things to put in the body. Granted if you're a body builder you need those carbs so it wouldn't be that bad. But for a regular snack absolutely not go with a combat bar.

Isn't it amazing how much we learn during our time managing our own weight? I wonder if you'd have a budding career as a future nutritionist?

Funny thing is I was actually thinking that the other night. I absolutely love learning all this stuff. I even helped my little sister (19 and in college) with her nutrition homework and got all of them correct. :) I have learned so much in these past months than I ever have with a health class. Gonna keep on learning And loving it.

A lot of the "protein bars" are really barely a step above candy bars, just 4 times the price. I will eat the Special K Protein Meal replacement bars for breakfast sometimes. When it comes to snacks, however, I say forget the bars and just eat some almonds.

Never touch any of the bars

I tried the Atkins bars when first exploring FS. The macros might work out, but I've never experienced such a long-lasting unpleasant aftertaste. Processed food can't be a regular answer. Have 30g snack bags of almonds measured out, also not perfect esp wrt water politics, but better than Clif!

The only protein bars I buy are Quest. They taste ok, but still have the consistency of modeling clay, hence why I just keep them around for 'emergency food'. Because even if it's not my first choice, it's a heck of a lot better than the drive through! 😌

Very true. I end up not getting any after standing there 10 min looking at boxes. Like I said great if your a body builder but not for losing weight. I tend to just not buy them. :)

Good choice. They're not for weight loss. They don't satisfy your appetite. Try P3. Portable protein packs. They come in a 5 or 6 pls. at Walmart, have 13g protein,13g fat and 4g carbs total 180 calories. $ 1.38 or 1.50 each?

For a protein snack, try jerry instead of bars.
