I wouldn't put a finger on lack of cheese as the reason why the scale moved downward quite yet. You just started moving your body more and this aids with your weight loss goals. Keep experimenting. There are many Keto's who still enjoy cheese and are loosing weight. Good luck Emily.

Your carbs (for August) look like you were aiming for 20g a day (that's awesome), but I would recommend cutting your protein down to about 50g a day (WebMD recommends 46g per day) - then, you'll see the keto work well.

From371to184: I try to stay under 20 net carbs a day. I'm following a Keto way of eating. My macros at the moment are: carbs 6% (20g) protein 23% (83g) fat 71% (113g).

Protein is my biggest struggle! It's what keeps me full. Any advice on lowering protein. People say more fat but I'm not a person who can do all the butter and oils. I don't have my gallbladder so I have digestive issues when it comes to too much fat.

I also don't have a gallbladder,And I do not add extra fats and oils as this slowed my body weight lost down to ZIP, so as previously stated, on KETO WOE for months no lost weight. I Then did research and started to use my own body fat stores as my fat source,I bieve the articles are FAT lost Deficits as my body had plenty of FAT, There is several articles of research on this subject on web. Only then did I start to loose more steady weight, I can only say it worked for me, as your body needs fat to survive and I had a couple 100 #s extra to use up.

I'm with you on protein. Am allowing myself 1g per pound of lean body weight, which is apparently ok if active and trying to build muscle, and it's a struggle to keep it to that. 50/day would feel like torture. -- A lot of keto information is based on research done to reduce epileptic seizures in young children. And what's out there about adults is true for XY individuals, but not always ideal for XX. Leanne at healthfulpursuit dot com talks about this a lot, but I haven't spent much time on her site yet. -- Cheese? I'd try another week, but not for weight reasons.

I agree. I've actually read a few articles that all the extra fat is def not needed.. I know I've got some extra fat on me that I would like to use up. LOL I've also been trying to keep under the suggested calorie point but I think some weeks I could probably do a little better.

This week because I haven't been eating cheese and I've been catching myself add more protein. I shouldn't be doing that. I think I will try for another week of no cheese. I miss goat cheese. :(

I just looked at a few days of your log, and it looks like your fiber might be a little low? One source, tried yesterday for the first time, is chia "pudding", just chia seeds in liquid, lots of flavor directions you could take it, zero net carbs. Fiber can help with feeling full. -- Personally, I feel like I retain water when I eat nuts and nut-like (peanuts, almonds) items daily. It's probably worth it if aiming for plant-based balance; just accept that you'll be decreasing fat without seeing the scale move as much. -- Honestly, I'm not sure that calories are the be-all end-all, when your food choices and balances are right. It's possible that adding 150-200/day of the right stuff, a few days/week, would be good metabolism-wise.

Oh, and I'm not for entirely banning a food category like cheese or nuts. But when I'd been eating cheese daily, it took a few weeks completely off it for my taste buds to adjust and to find different flavor options.

I bought some flaxseed meal. I read a recipe on making a NO-Oatmeal with it and chia seeds. I may give that a try!

I do have some almonds that I snack on from time to time. but I try not to snack on things cause then it turns into a full meal.

Gotta have my cheeses! You're much stronger than I.

I gotta have cheese everyday! Go girl! :-)

That's exactly why I mostly avoid nuts; it's SO hard to put actual meals together, that if I have a few nuts to stave off the hunger, I end up eating just nuts. Which is weird, since the net carbs are generally low. (Just looked at pecan label: 1g net carbs per 1/4 cup.) I weighed out 30g doses of almonds into snack bags, and keep one of those in the just-in-case pouch at the bottom of my handbag. Hope that doesn't invite food beetles or something.

Are you lactose intolerant? Because if you are? Cheese is a killer.

Daiya brand offers some terrific vegan alternatives in both taste and texture. I'm not vegan, but my sister is. She has sometimes fooled even me with dishes made using their products.

@Paula I'm not intolerant, just don't when enough is enough! Hahaha i love cheese so much. I also think it may be stalling my weight loss.
