Judyrose1997's Journal, 15 August 2017

I pretty much stopped talking about keto and shut down any discussion about it with real life people. Only discuss if person is asking respectful pertinent questions about Keto. I only refer to it generally as "I am watching what I eat" Then i gauge reactions to that...to see if I want to move the conversation forward. So you folks here are IT for me if I need support, advice or experience. I call it sticking with the winners!

Yep, it's amazing to me how much people want to argue what they've not experienced.

Sometimes it's best to stick with folks who understand and share your views. Wish people would realize that everyone's journey is an individual thing and not be so judgmental. 😕. Seems to be the way of the world anymore though

I get what you mean, Judyrose. I did some research and understand the science, and tried BulletProof Coffee. However, determined that the keto WOE doesn't appeal to me. (I prefer more moderate "low-carb" with less fat.) I also understand why it would be difficult to explain keto to someone unfamiliar with the science that supports it. If it works for you, let the results stand as your silent endorsement.

I'm lucky - never really cared much about what my friends or coworkers think about my eating. I probably drone on about what I cook and make and seem to tolerate me so I will give everyone a pass :)

Im with miraculum on this one. I do low carb, moderate fat and lower calories. It doesn't match 100% the "keto way" but I just can't eat a meal loaded with cheese, cream, bacon etc. Bottom Line - Am I losing weight? Yes --AM I doing of hunger --No Therefore keep going and be guided by the numbers not the dictatorial rules of the 30 diff diets out there.

Yeah -- I agree with you, Perk. The best thing about this newest effort is that I'm not hungry. "Empty" is a newer experience. I'd lost weight before and felt "empty, and was able to recognize that as "confirmation" and "accomplishment," even "victory"! I just can't sustain something that makes me feel deprived, punished, or grossed out. LOL!

I don't tell people I'm on a diet, if they ask, I tell them, I eat this way because I like the food.

To me Keto diet is my dream. I grew up in a vegan household, and was seriously deprived of things like bacon, cream, steak, etc. Every day I feel like I'm living in a food orgy, and I rarely get hungry. I still crave things like chocolate, but I use chocolate cheesecake as my nuclear option when I can't say no anymore.

I agree diets what kind doesn't matter the word diet only means the way of eating forgive me I don't mean anything toward anybody eating a certain way but just as monkey or any animal in the zoo has a diet that just means what they eat it's the same as saying lifestyle except for humans take it incorrectly it doesn't matter. if it works for you do it as long as it's only bringing you health and not sickness that's what I say and yes I'm on the ketogenic lifestyle as well. everybody seems to want to have their own opinion about everything without any research and they tend to make jokes about things that are just not funny.

This is the place! It's generally hard to have an interesting conversation about someone's diet, so I don't go there unless asked by medical professional for whom I feel it's relevant. Here, there's support, whatever you're doing. For so long, I felt really alone in my efforts. FS is such a wonderful supportive structure.

I went through a phase where I didn't talk about keto, it seemed like I was catching too much flak for it. But you know, other people might not like it when I tell them to stick it, but I don't care for being criticized and bullied, either, and keto works, so they can stick it!

Lead by example. Jenni. I embarked on keto 15 months ago. One of my biggest detractors was a co-worker who could easily stand to lose 3 times as much weight as me. But she's overheard me talking about what I'm doing, how I'm doing it, and most importantly SEEN the results. I've never pressured her, but have answered her questions when she asked. It seems she's been inspired, and has started taking baby steps towards making the same changes. I encourage her at every step, just as the wonderful folks here have done for me. Change is hard, and every encouraging word is gold.

I've just started the keto diet and it's been working really well for me, but it's been met with weary remarks. I've started to keep it quiet except with people who I think will be more understanding.

Welcome to the real deal on support! It is here. There is Keto on reddit. And "Keto with Casey" is a great blog and vid interviews regarding Keto. Let your experience in health and weight loss be the convincer . Keep calm, Keto on! My best to you all.

I guess I was lucky in the beginning. I was put on a low-carb, high protein, high fat diet by a Dr. for hypoglycemia that I had been hospitalized for twice, so no one questioned or argued with me about it. But as years went by and I was constantly "courting death" with my terrible diet habits - y'all remember when fat was the enemy, when we would all die if we didn't eat lots of whole grains, breakfast was a necessity and all the other "fads" the AMA put us through. I stayed the course and did take a lot of flack. I was pretty tough skinned and since I didn't engage and try to justify my eating habits and I was healthy and strong, people eventually just ignored it.

People are noticing and they ask, so when they do, I tell them. But, I tell them not to just believe me and to do their own research. I generally tell people to watch Dr. Eric Berg on YouTube and start by searching his name + keto.

Wow - looks like I'm not alone. I put up a post about others following LFHC and didn't get a solitary reply. Thought I was on my own. I'm on week 3. I know that this way of eating isn't generally accepted yet (by most) but, for me, it's been amazing. Is it frowned on a bit here then?

julie.iom. you may not belong to the "right" groups if you're not seeing many "LCHF WOE posts. Go to the "Community" tab and try doing a group search of "keto LCHF." "Keto and loving it" is actually very active.

High Fat Low Carb Keto here; adding 16/8 Intermittent Fasting today along with it. So HFLC/IF Keto. Other than here, I tell people I'm watching my health and if they ask I just say low carb primal diet.
