GUYS I need you help!! I want to start a WATER FAST for about 3 days. ONLY 3 days so I can get my body back to normal since I have been drinking so much soda. OMG, I just love that poison and I need to give my stomach a rest. So, any TIPS & Advice on how to best accomplish this?? If I see it helps, then I will start a group and see where it goes.
But for you I know my FS fam to help out. THANKS :)

Anita, you're very young. Trust experience: You cannot cleanse your body of the "junk" with just a three-day water fast. (Since you have responsibility for a young family, you need to be able to *function*!) Before you jump into this fast, you need a real plan -- choosing a nutritious Way-of-Eating (WOE) that replaces at least some simple and convenient carbohydrates (sugar) with nutritious vegetables, fruit, protein, and healthy fats. When you support your body, it is so much easy to cope with cravings for stuff like soda. Good luck!

I would say if you are determined, at least do two meals with Ensure or Breakfast Essentials for vitamins and nutrients, then a regular meal with lean protein and clean vegetables. I rarely drink soda, but I do drink a lot of water. Try it cold with plain lemon juice for a great cleanse. Also hot with Yogi Detox Cleansing Tea and a bit of lemon juice for a little kick. Also, don't forget your vitamins! Let me know if you try it 😊

I've fasted on organic juice for long periods of time, but never water.

You'll be eating food, right? Look, if you feel like a cleanse of some sort is right for you, you can get help here putting it together. Just don't scare us oldies by trying anything drastic and sudden like eliminating food at the same time.

Look up Dr. Jason Fung and Intermittent Fasting. You need minerals like calcium, potassium and magnsium. Drink bone broth, and allow tea or coffee. Water only can be dangerous.

Try to get rid of any soda or unhealthy drinks that you have in your house so when you look for something to drink, all you will have left is water. Maybe try to limit the amount of money that you have on you so you are not tempted to go out and buy soda. Good luck👍👍👍

My trick: Switch to diet for 2 weeks (I can't wean sugar AND caffeine at the same time). Switch to Caffeine Free Diets for 2 weeks [all month add more water to your diet. Switch to LaCroix, Water - and S Pellegrino water [i like to add black cherry mio]. I allow myself one giant soda at the movies every few months. Because it's the movies.

I would not recommend a 100% water fast. You will not die from it, so lets lets just put some tips: 1.clean up your diet a week before hand. Any vitamin or nutrient deficiencies will become exposed and you may have strange reactions like strong cramps 2. Just know that fancy waters use salts or sodium bi-carbonate to manage ph and electrolytes. This may be counter to your goal. Some add citrus (lemon/lime) or apple cider vinegar; you can test your reaction to these things by having water first thing in the morning. Don't wait until the 3 day event to test it. 3. baby steps.. try intermittent fasting leading up to the 3 day fast. Water only until noon for the next 4 days, then fri sat sun is 100% water. 4. stay as sedentary as possible. 5. avoid food 6. avoid non-supportive persons during the 3 days. Reach out to FS or supportive friends when you need support from hunger pains.

It would be a good idea to prepare yourself with commitment and determination before you begin. I did a couple of ten day fasts. I didn't die, my body didn't fall to pieces and contrary to some weird thoughts I had, my teeth didn't grow weak from not getting to chew daily. Your body will moan and groan the first couple of days.Just drink some water, ignore the discomfort and it will soon pass. From that point it gets easier and has been mostly a physical thing which does include some physical weakness. The absolute worst part is the forth day when your emotions want a reward and to celebrate. You will crash and burn emotionally if you eat everything you can get your mouth around. So try to stay in control of those thoughts and you will be happy, happy, happy and feel great. You may be surprised to find that you are doing so good that you could go another day, and another, and another. You get to decide. You can go as long as you want. After all, you've come so far already after the third day. But know that your digestive system comes to rest after the third day and you should eat small amounts of food that will be easy on your stomach after the fast.

THANK YOU ALL!!! I read every single comment and I will listen to all. You are all very wise and it makes me happy to have a support family that understand what we need to do to stay healthy. I will do a fast for 1/2 day today, lets see how it goes. If I am weak, I will have a light meal. I brought fruits just in case. only water for sure. thanks all. xoxo Anita

Don't starve yourself. And why would you want to? Make a lifestyle change and get all the soda and sugar drinks out of the house. Order water when you go out to eat. It'll save you 2 bucks and that'll add up big time over a year/lifetime. I have to stress a whole foods plant based diet. Fill up the fridge w/ fruits and vegetables and 100% whole grain bread. Drastically reduce your animal product intake. Eat to your hearts content because you will become full faster and feel great in the process. Make water your favorite beverage. Water=life!
