zest7's Journal, 01 August 2017

I am pleased with my mediterranean diet. I continue to lose weight, more slowly than the first week but still significant. More importantly, I am losing waist and hip diameter. In my weight loss over the previous two years my middle has stayed the same size so I am delighted.

I find that my Kcal input is pretty low, mostly because eating 4-5 servings of veg and 3-4 of fruit each day is a daunting prospect and it leaves me pretty full. I have rarely had any wheat products and then only whole wheat. I don't miss the bread in my life but I suspect that is what contributed to my apple shape.

On my way to a healthier me.

You lost a lot of water the first week a long with the carbs. It's a false sensation but don't think it wasn't real. Your body just can't keep losing like that because it was combination of fluid and carbohydrates. Now you're losing fat. The real stuff. The Mediterranean diet has best proven track record for lifestyle changes and lifelong success. Make it for your family and you'll all live longer.

Like most folks on this site, this is not my first rodeo. I seem to be doing fine with the Med. diet. I know it will be a slow go for any weight loss plan so I am not looking for a quick fix. 1-2# a month is fine by me.
