mommyhilaman's Journal, 31 July 2017

i am a little bit confused. i didnt even consume a thousand calories yesterday and i gained an ounce of weight. i know this seems minimal, i am just so terrified of the scale moving the wrong direction. also, it is highly upsetting because, like normal, my family is eating mcdonalds, taco bell, drinking soda, and having candy...(yes, all in one day).. and people like my husband, jump on the scale and says, "hey, look at that, i lost two pounds." are you kidding me!
261.4 lb Lost so far: 8.6 lb.    Still to go: 91.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Hate it when that happens LOL but we are all so different.. Stick to your plan. It will show on the scale.

Perfectly normal especially that minimal. Your weight will differ at a certain time of the day. Could be water weight, haven't used the bathroom yet and your consumption. Best time to weigh yourself is in the morning. My weight goes up 2-3lbs by the afternoon

thanks yall. i appreciate the encouragement. everyone around me is fit and they don't understand the struggle of being overweight and battling with food addiction. I have used food so long to cope with everything that i feel like i am missing something now. i know it is a transition in life and a life style change... I know in the logical part of my brain that it is going to take time to reverse the damage i have done. But, it is almost as if i am running a marathon and i cannot see the finish line! daunting! lol

Maybe you need to have The Talk with your family. Food addiction is real! Every one needs to be on your side right now. I only have my husband to deal with. He says he will do this life change with me, but has to have dessert after every meal. He now eats my low carb concoctions without complaint. He has lost 20 lbs. Me, only 5 in the same time. Life is not always fair but we must persevere.

You need also know that household scales at best have a variance in precision of +- 1 % That means at a real weight of 100 pounds, for example, your weight may read anywhere from 99 to 101. at a real weight of 150 it can read anywhere from 148.5 to 151.5. So don't freak out over a change in the area of 1% as it likely isn't real.

This is hard. I agree with Bluper but it's a tough challenge. Also frustrating to co-parent with someone who thinks it's ok to give kids this much junk food.

Hats off to you for being able to avoid all of the temptation around you.... That's so difficult, but you did it and you've taken that first step toward "wearing blinders" on what's likely to be a regular basis. You'll be seeing the results soon, and don't be discouraged by the +/-... It'll even out in the long run!!

Weight loss is never consistent. Concentrate on you new way of eating, not the calories for now. Once a week weigh-ins work for some, getting your attention off the scale and on to choosing yummy foods you CAN eat. Use a tape measure, sometimes that's where the success is! You can do it!

Same here! I was exactly on target with Saturday and Sunday's food. Sunday, the scale read 211.5 lbs., a 2 lb. loss? Ecstasy! Today, 213 lbs., a 1.5-pound gain? Agony! Net loss 0.5 lb.? Meh! Moral of the story: Contrary to the seeming logic of simple arithmetic operations, day-to-day shifts in body weight have little relationship the "weight" or "count" (in grams or calories) of solids and/or liquids consumed, or waste excreted. Rather, metabolism is a complex of processes the goal of which is to keep the "organism" alive and its organs performing optimally, no matter what the owner throws at it. It's a marathon, not a sprint!

It's probably poop! Heehee. It's all good!! As long as you are trying! And try not to starve yourself ❤. I've learned the hard way. it just makes me crazy and leads to binging and more gain 😭 . Congrats on making progress. This weightloss thing is a long ass journey. But you are made for great things 🌸✅

Please read and reread Miraculum's post. These are 'Pearls of wisdom '. Stop weighing everyday, but keep weighing and measuring everything. That's my 'Pearl'.

Hi! I'm new here in te FS community, but I'd like to share something with you! 😊 I have never been severely overweight, however I suffer with sugar cravings and compulsion and my father has been obese for his whole life, so I know exactly what you mean. The struggle is real. I would like to suggest that you read a book, I just finished it and it clarified a LOT about why some people have a tough time trying to loose weight and others eat the world and are skinny. It's called "Why we get fat" by Gary Taubes. For me and my father, it was a real game changer! It's not a self-help book nor a diet book!! It's science explained in an easy to understand way and makes suggestions on how to fix it, diminishing the cravings and hunger and weight. If you give it a shot, tell me what you think when you finish it 😉
