21 days to go
12 lbs to go
20:4 fast
24g carbs
1045 Cals

Not surprised. Day before yesterday was 68g carbs.
I got greedy. My body didn't like it!

It's more worrying when I can't see what I've done or learn from it! Even yesterday was 13% carbs 🤔

Need to stay on track, but now that I've admitted to myself that I can't get to target fir the wedding, I find my motivation slipping. Big time. Despite all the non scale victories.

As you may have seen, I like numbers!!
Maybe I'm nit having enough calories either.

I was reading on someone's post yesterday how to calculate Calories in relation to % body fat/BMI using 9-11 Cals/ per lb lean mass. But I can't find it. I think it was dragslist comments? Any ideas guys? Thus might keep my interest.

Thanks in advance

Have a happy Friday buddies 😎😎

Poppy, I can understand how you're losing your motivation. I'm the same if I set goal dates. I've said it before - I'm inclined to self-sabotage like you're doing and then wonder why on earth I did that, and then I get disappointed in myself for not sticking to my WOE and so fed up I comfort eat and put on even more weight and so the cycle goes on. For anyone with this mindset, I say do not set goal dates! Just keep thinking to yourself, no matter what the scales say, I will start each day with determination to stick to my WOE. For example, I've had a lot of meals out this week and I've put on weight. I'm not recording the increased weight, I'm not stressing about it. I'm just sitting here this morning working out how I can have a low calorie day to get back on track and that's completely without any emotion - no self-loathing or disappointment in myself. This, in my opinion, is the only way to deal with weight gain. I hope this will help you stay on track - have a wonderful day 🙂

Thanks Doobrie.. " self-loathing" pretty much describes how disappointed I am in myself right now 🤔 I guess I'm just a goal-orientated person

In the 'olden' days, diet doc said 'Eat 1/2', CPN Mom said '1200 calories'...I started w 1900 1st week, 1700 last & now down to 1500...I think for all the 'new' guidelines, bottom line is calories...plus keep moving (my problem!). When's ur wedding luv?

Poppy - the only goal you should have is to lose weight. No time frame, not even a target weight. I've put 133 pounds as my target weight on FatSecret because it's 9st 7lbs in UK weighing and you have to put something. I have no idea if this is what I really want to be. The only thing I know at the moment is I'm not as slim as I want to be. I have an event coming up soon too - my husband's 41st anniversary of leaving uni on 7th September and we're having a get together with all his uni mates from 41 years ago! Obviously, I knew them well too and want to look my best on the day, but I don't have any weight in mind. I'm just doing my best, accepting that life gets in the way sometimes, and I will be whatever I am when the date rolls round. I will need a new dress myself so I'll go looking for one nearer the date. The other event I have in mind is my son's wedding August 2018 and I know I want to be a skinny Mother-of-the-Groom - lol! But I don't want to look scrawny so will just carry on dieting until I feel I'm at a happy weight for me. What is the point of making yourself miserable over not meeting some goal that YOU made up? You have enough to cope with, with your health. Just stick to your diet and keep trying to get those scales down. They'll only go up if you give up!

Yes it was Draglist - he has calculators on diettruth.org. I'm echoing doobrie- I'm really leaning towards the daily macros being the real thing to watch. Even there I'm simplifying and they work for almost anyone in Keto to maximize fat loss- 20 carbs (up to 29 just to allow only for vegetables though). Adequate protein for lean body mass and ONLY eat fat to satiety- the full 70% fat my body uses can draw a nice chunk of that from my fat stores. If I fill my diet with fat now that it is fat adapted, it won't take any from my bod. Also, because it works for me, sticking to my intermittent fasting forces my body to draw all fuel from my fat for 16 hours. Working out with weights on days that I get adequate sleep raises basal metabolic rate. I know now that if I use a calculator to drop below guidelines such as these that it will hurt my long term progress. BMI calculations won't work with these goals and activities.

If you overdid carbs compared with what you normally eat this increase may well be water. You've achieved so much to date weight wise and NSV-wise, despite the horrendous stress of your work problems, that to look at not reaching your arbitrary target as a failure is so wrong. And it's not like you! Chin up, Poppy and take a look at Bill's site diettruth.org as Bluecoaster suggested. Big hugs 🤗

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I find it more effective to track total grams of carbs instead of using percentages. Regardless of what's going with other food in my day, I make sure to never go over 30 carbs (the key to staying in ketosis for most people) and usually fewer. Cheers. 😊
