I am continuing to follow the keto diet which I started the 1st of July. My fasting blood sugar has gone from 358 to 154 now. I have lost 7-12 inches off my body without much exercise. I feel very full after eating. My blood pressure has gone down from a high of 159/95 to around 121/72 now. I have lost 11 pounds. I will be adding a 30 minute walk on the 1st and will do this daily. Yesterday, I went to do my weekly grocery shopping. I decided I wanted a treat. Since "treats" can only be veggies or proteins, I researched. I had read where as long as you have available carbs numbers, that sugar free candy could be okay. It will not be okay if it spikes my sugar or stalls my weight loss. I bought Russell Stover sugar-free mint patties. You can eat 3 small ones a day, which I did. Well, this morning I had lost another pound and my sugar went down 8 points. So, the candy did not mess me up, yay! I already decided if my weight stalls or my sugar spikes, that I will reduce or eliminate the mint patties. Thanks for reading everybody.

Here's to viable treats! I found chocolate that claims to be 3g net carbs for 40g serving, without any synthetic sweeteners. Will keep an eye on reaction to this. How are you measuring your sugar levels?

That's what these patties are, 3g. I take my fasting blood sugar every morning and based it on that. I'm aiming to get my fasting blood sugar to 120 or less. That is my main goal. After that, I will focus more on the weight loss. Unfortunately, I forgot about the 3rd "treat" criteria, which is that some people are sensitive to sugar alcohols. I guess I'm one because my stomach got upset today. But more weight loss, I guess, lol! If they keep upsetting my stomach, I'll cut back to one or two. What chocolate did you get? Take care, Ginny

It's from a brand called "Alter Eco" and is made in Switzerland. Contains only cacao beans, cacao butter, raw cane sugar, and vanilla beans. Half a package is 260 calories, 23g fat, 8g total carbs/5g fiber, 4g protein. Am still bloated from the Atkins sweets I tried yesterday, so I guess I'm in the sensitive camp along with you. Hope you feel better soon, Ginny!
