Yesterday Was An EPIC FAIL!
I started out good until after lunch.
We went over to visit a friend of the family and as I sat in the front room, I was getting thirsty. Rather than ask for a drink, I spotted the Butterscotch Hard Candies in a bowl on the coffee table. I popped one in my mouth to get my mouth watering again.
About 12 candies later, I caught my wife starring at me in disbelief. I asked for a drink. Being in the south, she brought me a sweet tea. Emphasis on sweet.
By the time we got home, I felt like I was starving. I ate my planned 4 egg dinner about 3 instead of 5 PM. I even added home fries to it. I wasn't done yet.
By 5 PM when my wife got ready to eat, she asked me if I was hungry. I told her yes.
Last Sunday, she had made Lasagna which I had passed on, so she had two big containers in the fridge. Each easily contained about 4 or 5 restaurant size servings. (She make's hers from scratch using ricotta and mozzarella cheese, hamburger, and peperoni) I always add Parnassian cheese to mine.
She heated up both containers and after eating mine, she gave me about half of hers to eat, just so we wouldn't have any uneaten and she could wash the containers.
Before bed (about 11 PM), I was hungry again, so I fixed a package of Romaine Noodles with cheese sauce added.
I'm sort of ashamed to log this but maybe I can help someone else learn from my mistake. IF YOU'RE THIRSTY, JUST DRINK WATER.
My mindless eating frenzy started with just one hard candy and led to a total collapse of my principles.
Today is another day and a fresh start. I haven't ate since last night and I'm in a semi-fasted state. LORD HELP ME BE STRONG!

It happens! What a learning experience. Every hour, every day is a fresh start. DO NOT dwell on this. You've gotten it off your chest. Plan your day and stick to your way of eating! You will be fine.

LARRY!!!! It's OK. If there was someone with a video camera following me around and I didn't know about it, I would be exposed. I totally get it, trust me. Get a rubber band and put it around your wrist. When you start to screw up, snap it. I bet you you would have stopped by the 3 candy. It is not cruel, but I've done this and now, I have such powerful painful associations with certain foods that I hardly touch them any more. You will be back on track soon enough.

Hey Larry, no sweat, I would bet that almost everyone here has had at least one or more similiar days (myself included). What you do now and over the next few days & weeks is what is important. Average down, take a few extra walks, etc. to offset this big day. Also, although it sounds stupid, log everything from yesterday, at the end you'll see it isn't an insurmountable fail.

By the way, regarding water: I have downloaded app for water control.. I have to drink so much water per day it's really hard to think about putting something else in my mouth 😹😹😹

Larry--same kind of thing happens to me, sometimes. eat sweets. blood sugar goes up. insulin reaction drives it back down. uncontrollable hunger kicks in. i pig out. i wouldn't be too worried unless this happens enough to keep you out of keto for days at a time. i try to carry some pumpkin or sunflower seeds with me to snack on as needed, but in a situation like this, a big glass of water might have been all you needed.

Ditto to all the above comments Larry. I get days when the nibbles take over. I am constantly battling them. Going for a walk helps me too. Keep up the fight!!

You are doing great Larry. One day won't stop you on your journey to health. I've had plenty of days when all hope seemed lost. I'm sure you get back on the wagon and keep on trucking.
