I have fasted for almost 58 hrs now. Had a good full 7 hr sleep last night, woke up feeling good overall. This is really weird, no hunger pangs. Cravings, a little, but usually goes right away.

what is the rationale behind fasting? Why do people think it is a good method to incorporate in diet/healthy eating?

I do it to challenge my will power and mental strength on top of losing the weight that seems to be stuck with me forever since I gave birth to my younger son 14 yrs ago. Besides there are lots of benefits. Check out Jason Fung's blog who's a M.D. and he has also written some books about fasting.

@april the funny thing is that my craving has reduced to a minimum at this time (can't speak for later time because I get those funny pre-menopause symptoms and can get very emotional from time to time) but I have some fat bombs and pork rinds waiting anytime I have the urge to eat something sweet or salty and cruchy.

For the love of science stop fasting for 56 hours. Count your calories and eat in a calorie deficit and you WILL lose weight. Its impossible not to...literally. Stop reading books with people who have credentials and then sell there soul to make money on books. If your really interested on how to lose weight put your money towards an accredited college textbook on nutrition. Not being rude, only trying to help.

Thsiun please read up on starting food again after extended fasting. 2 days probably not a big deal but there are complicaitons upon re-introducing food on people that fast for like 7-14 days. Good job and be careful. See Jason Fung's website if you have not. Jimmy Moore's older pod casts with Jason Fung are good even though Jimmy is an obese charletan. Ignore anyone that uses the arguement that the "new science is wrong" and the "acredited/qualified science" is right. All 3 major religions have used fasting for milenia.

HERE HERE!! Agreed...600 cal should be a minimum intake or you start to use your muscles as feed for your body and that just ain't good.

@cmellblom1234, I tried everything in the past, including spending close to $1500 on Herbalife products last summer (my friend talked me into it). It took me three months drinking two shakes a day and exercise diligently and I still couldn't get under 170 lbs. I also tried counting calories, plant-based, Vegan... anything you name it but nothing worked. You're not being rude, I used to think like you but I haven't feel this good in a long time.
