minitata's Journal, 15 July 2017

I've done a day and a half and I'm not feeling at all hungry. On Wednesday I was sat watching the tennis on the tv and my ears suddenly 'went' and everything sounded slightly off tuning and loud. I wonder if my tens machine could cause it, but I don't really see how. Anyway, it's helping me not to eat as I feel a bit vertigous and drunk without the alcohol - cheap date me!! lol

Today I've cooked breaded fish, chips and string beans for everyone (Tony's sister Jenny is here) while Jenny did some cleaning and Tony was out with his metal detector. They've also had strawberries and Jersey double cream - I had a teaspoon of the cream - it was really, really nice and a deep yellow colour.

Have a good weekend one and all

I've never had that reaction to a TENS unit, or heard of that. I've been using them since they first came out in the 70's, but everyone experiences things differently. 🤷🏻‍♀️Are you still taking your supplements? And your liquids, Hon? The vertigo doesn't sound like a good symptom. 🙅🏻

Mini, has your heart been checked recently? I just read over your last 5 or 6 posts and they don't sound good for heart health, Dear. Please be careful.😘

I have to go back for a further blood pressure check in the next week or so smprowett - I'll mention the pain to the nurse then.

I know you fast frequently, but are your electrolytes in check? I've noticed some symptoms when I forget to drink water with a tsp of pink Himalayan salt in it.

I used to have a Jersey milk cow & there is nothing that can compare to Jersey cream! Wish I could find some here!

Minitata, I'm 63, have had T2DM for 16+ years; plus high blood sugar and high cholesterol and osteoarthritis. I've been overweight since my mid 20s but reached "morbid" obesity in my mid 30s. When my blood sugar is at extremes -- low or high -- I can have the kind of hearing phenomenon you describe. Maintaining blood sugar -- low and steady -- is the key to minimizing diabetic symptoms and long-term complications. Fasting does NOT encourage stability. Most diabetics can only achieve that goal by eating fewer carbohydrates. For weight loss, staying under 1600 calories and 100g/day can be enough. Carbs at 60g/day is a reasonable level for me to maintain and I lose weight on that. Carbs at 30g/day is just too low for me to maintain but the weight falls off without as severe a calorie restriction. I can most consistently maintain a steady diet under 1500 calories and 60g carbohydrate per day. *Intermittent* fasting? From all I know about diabetes, that does not encourage stability OR weight loss.

I have never used much salt - but I use more nowadays - and yes I use the himalayan, it definitely tastes different. Miraculum - I've been type 2 for over 16 years too - since I started fasting my blood sugar has gone down to the extent that I'm no longer considered diabetic, but pre-diabetic. 6 years ago there was talk of me going on insulin - and I was 113 kilos (248 lbs).

Miraculum, I'm a diabetic from a family of diabetics. Many of whom have died from the complications of diabeties. You need to listen to (on YouTube) or read the Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung and look up some of the referenced studies before you lecture minitata, k? Not everyone will respond to the same 'one' way, but a great many of us have been lucky enough to have run into doctors in our lives in the past who hadn't totally bought into the AMA and the American Food Pyramid, or the diabetic diets that really work no better over the long term than just watching and counting calories and carbs. Dr. Fung has some good things to say that resounded with me because they repeated the common sense my parents were given in the 60's and 70's by their Naturopathic doctor and talked out of later by 'real' doctors who allowed them to die from complications of diabetes much too soon.
