I am going to dinner with my family tomorrow at a mexican resturant tomorrow, what kind of things can I possibly eat, I know that I can get a taco salad, but other than that, what else can I have??? I'm on phase 2 now.
200.5 lb Lost so far: 8.5 lb.    Still to go: 60.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 5.3 lb a week

Ive had tacos, fish tacos and just not eaten the tortilla. I had a chili rellano once that was super yummy! I've had care asada. Also fajitas without the tortillas. I ate at a fancy Mexican restaurant that even has a dish they called, "The low carb platter". Go figure? Good luck, I bet you'll be fine!

I can't remember, can we have refried beans??? That is about one of my favorite things, along with the rice, but I know I can't eat that!!!

I know you can on level two. I'm not sure which beans we can have on level one, someone else might know. I would check the carb count and just use moderation.

Chicken Fajitas or Carnitas, skip the tortillas. Just eat the yummy meat and veggies with a fork. If you have beans, make sure you only have 1/2 cup, skip the rice. Ask for lettuce and tomato instead of the rice.

refried should wait until phase 2...eat whole black or red beans with salsa and sour cream...a little meat, lettuce and tomatos...

I was just looking at the SBD book, and it's not really that helpful as to determining how much you can eat of the "new" carbs, I know it says use with moderation. I wish there was more to the phase 2 chapter. Maybe there is more info at the beginning of the book???

The point is to know how the new carbs effect you. So if you eat a bunch all week long and it effects you negatively, you could gain alot of weight. If you only eat a little a few days in the week, then if it has a negative effect it will be less harsh. Try to think of it that way. I have read several articles about phase 2 from the Doc who developed SB and thats really the gist of it. Sorry, dont feel well. I'm outta here now. You'll do great anyway...the key is to really think about your new plan and you are doing that! Bravo for you!

phase 2: reintroduce fruit (from phase 2 food list) one serving per day. Starches also 1 serving per day. REintroduce new foods slowly and work up graudally to increase fruit to 3 total servings per day, starches increase up to 2-3 servings per day. Dairy (milk) 1-11/2 cups der DAY on phase 2. It does say "GRADUALLY" and considering phase 1 was so restrictive, I intend to only introduce one fruit and one grain for an entire week and wait and see how I do. Im starting with grapefruit and oatmeal this weekend. I'll wait till an entire week goes by before introducing anything else new. Hope this helps.
