emilygu's Journal, 27 June 2017

I have lost 4.6 pounds from June 6th to today. It's a slow process and I wish it would go faster but slow and steady wins the race. We all we make our goals. Good luck everyone. Y'all are amazing and doing amazing.

It's not just the low carb part that wins the race. One must also keep the calories low, and doing some exercise to fuel your body's fire. In fact, I've read some members' journals that are doing LCHF and they've actually gained weight! Nevertheless, you are steady in your weight loss, and the scale is moving in the right direction. Keep it up and you will hit your goal!

You are right. Perhaps if members are gaining on the low carb then they must be doing wrong. Yeah I could fit in a brownie but you need to know portion and when to have the brownie. Or any food for that matter. I have become more aware of what a portion really is and I have learned over the past few months on this site that not everyone realizes this. And if you want to see real results rather it being 4 pounds in 3 weeks then you must be very strict with what you are putting in your mouth. Also if you are doing it right you will not have an issue with being hungry. Even if you are only eating 1070 calories or so a day like I am. Don't mean to be rude just stating facts that are hard to accept like I had a hard time with.

It may be slow but you are learning a whole new way of eating. One that in the long run will give you optimum health. I started out doing LCHF and then moved to Keto which I really like. Some folks swear by exercise, etc. The nice thing about LCHF is that if you stick to the program and adhere to the counts you don't necessarily have to exercise. People who don't lose weight on LCHF often are eating more carbs than they realize or are tracking or thinking I just exercised so I can have a little indulgence. The only program that is going to work for any of us is the program we commit ourselves to. I eat about the same number of calories you do daily...and I am never hungry it is a matter of making sure my body realizes that it is not in charge but my mind controls what happens. I simply tell my body to "wait" and after a few times of this, I have trained it to wait until I am ready to give in to it. Sounds a bit weird but it actually works. You are going to do just fine....you seem to know the programs and are determined to make the way of eating yours.

The goal is healthy weight loss and that takes time. Everyone I know who has lost weight quickly always ends up gaining it back because they went for the quick fix, not making meaningful changes in their lives. I am with you, I want to lose it all now! Then I think, "It took decades to gain this weight. Every month, I am taking a year back." When you look at it from that perspective, it isn't quite as bad. Hang in there!
