Had a hypo last night and had to eat - fast - my BG was 39 (2.1) I wondered why I was feeling rough. Anyone who's had a hypo will know that you just want to cram food in like there's no tomorrow. I had a banana and about 6 tablespoons of peanut butter. Took my BG one and two hours later and it got to 90 and 93 so that was okay. This morning it was 103 but I'm in ketosis because my ketones are 1.1.

I put the hypo down to the heat - it's going to be even hotter today (yay)

Have a good one everybody.

I never feel that way, not in the first 30-60 mins, I always feel quite ill though, and sickly, like I want to vomit, and shaky and dizzy, I usually drink some OJ or Coke and nibble a few jelly babies, both of which I carry with me and have stashed in various places around the house and I test my blood after 15 mins and repeat until the drop is halted...and then eat a digestive, some cereals or banana or something similar...mine falls very rapidly once it starts, I can see 3.8 and 10 mins later be at 2.2, I have not yet passed out fully but have been a bit incoherent once or twice...I assume you must have had some other stuff and tested it sooner than 1hr too as you are here and doing ok...Banana and PB are not good choices on their own for low Hypos in the low 2s, they work far too slowly...You need sugar/rapid food and/or drinks or glucose tabs in the first instance, then the other stuff once you feel ok and the hypos is halted...You gotta be careful...

Also, you are correct, the heat can play havoc with your appetite and BGs and your insulin intake, I have had to adjust mine almost every day for the last week or so, far more than I would normally, have had a few 3s and 1-2 in the 2s...been taking less insulin though, so that's a good thing...best wishes...

What a worry.. the weather is meant to be cooler from tomorrow, tho that won't help your joints x

Please be careful - low and high BG's can be soooo dangerous. My hubby was hospitalized with Gangrene and his BG was over 500 at the time - they advised that's why he couldn't fight the infection and had to have 2 surgeries to clean it up - he now watches his BG's very closely on a daily basis!!

I check my bg at least 3 times a day - and any time I feel 'odd'. I've been a type 2 for 17 years but I would never say that I can tell when my bg is high as I can't. Low, well I know when to check it.

Blurred vision is my only indication to high BG! :)

I just feel 'strange' as though something is going to happen - if you know what I mean
