Happy Tuesday, y'all!
Not much going on here...still staying below the 165 limit I've set.
In a moment of weakness a few days ago, I picked up a baguette. I ate about half of it, and within about a half an hour, felt like total crap. Belly unhappy, tired, and bloated-feeling. I had swollen hands and feet for the next 2 days. The remaining baguette went in the trash. How can something so evil taste so good??? But, at least I know how to cope with a slip-up. Yesterday I ate a lot (for me), but stayed under 10g carbs. I feel much better today.
Work has slowed down for the summer. I have nothing on the book for today or tomorrow, so I'm taking the opportunity to do things around the house. The forecast calls for rain for the next few days, so I'll probably nap some, too. :D
Have a great week, friends.

Shame you feel so bad after eating 1/2 a baguette but the good thing is, it will probably put you off ever trying another one! Have a happy week Kes 🙂

Kes -- this may sound nutty to you, but once I gave up wheat, I discovered that when I splurged and ate a croissant or some other yummy baked good with wheat flour, not only did I have bloating and gas and sometimes worse, I also had asthma like symptoms -- tight chest and wheezing. And if I took a benedryl, I felt better. Weird, huh?

Not nutty at all HM! It sort of makes sense...when you eat it all the time, you build up a resistance, I think. That resistance goes away after some time away from it, just like insulin resistance goes away after reducing carbs. For me, the main reason I started LCHF was that I noticed heart palpitations and arrhythmia after wheat-heavy meals.

Yes --Kes -- At first I thought I was having heart palpatations, but then I realized it was actually a chesty-sort of wheezing, but I think we are having the same basic experience. Actually, this reaction started before I gave up wheat, but I didn't connect the experience to eating wheat until after I'd given it up and then would suddenly eat a croissant or a hearty serving of whole grain pasta. Boy do I wish I had known this sooner. I could have saved myself a lot of discomfort.
