rwaller7483's Journal, 18 May 2017

A month since my last post, again. Head hasn't been right at all, I've been binging a bit, had very little regard for my health. Still putting weight on, had to get some new work trousers. Hoped it'd be a bit of a wake up call, but hasn't so far. When I went to the doctor a couple of months ago I saw a dietician who referred me to one of these lifestyle change courses. I've got my first appointment with that on 2nd June. Trying to keep an open mind about it, not rule anything out, but I'm kinda expecting an hour of condescention and being told what I already know, having what I've been stewing over for years reiterated to me. Not expecting an epiphany or owt, but be nice if I'm wrong.

Gonna start counting again and see how long this lasts. Got a salad for work later so it's a start.

Interesting, and I also hope you get some resonating advice but if you're open and hoping for potential epiphanies then I'd like to try see if I can help. I'm thinking that as you do know so much about diet and have proved it, then there must be a non-food reason for your food choices of late... and I have a suggestion that you need to include more non-food happiness and think of it as part of your daily diet. Think of it as a 3 a day pre-meal supplement, or as a once a day (any time preferred) but you need to spend a short while praising yourself for anything you want to, to the point where it does actually make you happy about you.. now - my idea is that this will prevent you needing to eat too much to get to the 'happy point' and also re-enforce all the good knowledge you do know about food already, enabling you to care enough about yourself to apply it. its just a new technique to add to the many you already know.

oops with all those words you wouldn't think I'd have forgotten part of it - but yes - that non-food happiness self-praise must NOT be about anything to do with food or dieting - you are not allowed to praise yourself for being good with food, or with losing weight etc.. think of other aspects of yourself or your actions to be pleased with - that is important or it can spiral into an eating disorder

I've been binging too, since coming back off holiday. Have given myself a talking to and hope to make better choices now I can feel my favourite jeans getting snug. Maybe one thing they tell you / teach you at this course, will be your click moment. Anyway, you're going with an open mind and that's all you need to take with you - good luck!

Sorry, only just seen these replies. I didn't go to the group in the end, couldn't get the day off but was leaning towards not wanting to go anyway. Feeling cautiously optimistic at the moment, but that can change in a heartbeat.. We'll see.
