Ryan75's Journal, 05 February 2012

“One cannot discover new worlds unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore” I have reached my halfway mark and therefore have decided (as planned) to quit calorie counting. Let’s face it, measuring and weighing everything before you eat it is not normal. As I told Keld some time ago I am very well aware that I may not succeed then, and that I may end up back in front of the drawing board. The thing is, no person should have to do this (calorie counting) indefinitely. What would be the point then in learning to correct past mistakes? When will your knowledge start paying the dividends of your investment? At some point in time your understanding and experience you gained here regarding your eating habits must enable you to fly solo. No websites, counters, and all other whistles and bells that comes with it. You cannot be the co-pilot in your life forever.

If you are used to eating two eggs, two slices of toast and a cup of coffee every morning of your life, does it still make sense to add it to the calorie counter every day? I mean, really...

I will of course still login here often; I will still track my weight every day and try to keep a journal... This is a wonderful website and I hope to be a part of it until China runs out of tea.

So, here goes nothing! Wish me luck :)

What did I learn during my short time on Fatsecret:

1 – I am most certainly not alone
2 – In terms of weight, some people are better off than me, and some are not
3 – I can eat basically anything, just don’t overdo it
4 – Exercise
5 – There are some genuine good people here.
6 – There are very lonely people here
7 – There are people here who like to flatter themselves
8 – There are people on Fatsecret that wish to lose 5 kg
9 – There’s a Carb Monster

Ps. My buddies, you have no idea how much you helped me my friends. I thank you.

Ryan, I think it's so AWESOME that you're doing this. Please stay in touch and let us know how you're doing. Your journey doing this is very inspirational. This is something I need to get to also, but I just don't feel that I am fully ready for it yet. I hope you succeed - what you do takes guts and strength, and you have it! I'm proud of you and rooting for you, my friend.

lol ohhhhhhhh no not the carb monster. I understand what your saying about not calorie counting and putting it in the diary. I stopped doing it for the very same reason. And unlike you I havent lost the wt yet but it isnt because of my consumption. If you find yourself wondering whats going on it will still be here for you to use. Or at least that is my thought. Bottom line is this; you know what you should be eating and you know what you shouldnt. You know what happens when you eat too much of what you shouldnt. So dont. You know you will need to workout. So workout. Congrats on making the half way mark. Good luck and no you are not alone. Most of us will still be here when you come and visit.
