Not a good week.

I'm really having trouble catching my stride again. I'm not feeling well and I'm not planning as well as I usually do. I am failing myself big time. I'm OK most of the day. Everything seems to fall apart in the evening. I'm going to do this. I HAVE to do this. I've wasted over half a year now. One of the big problems is, I'm still not going to bed on time. It's the late hours that are sabotaging my food intake. By the time I go to bed, I've been without food for 6 hours or more. That's when I fail.

Bren, I know. I have to get back on a schedule. It's healthier and easier to keep things under control. I woke up at 6:30 today, so I'm going to try to use this as a jumping off point. I'm not turning on the TV. I have Harry Potter in the DVD player . . . the first 5 movies, and I plan to play those all day for noise (I have severe tinnitus, noise helps) so I won't actually pay attention (I have them memorized . . . LOL). I want to try to get a lot done today so I won't stay up tonight to "finish up." I don't plan on quitting. I'm just disappointed that I don't seem to be able to get myself back on track. Love you back!

Awww, Bonnie, I know just how you feel, I have changed my meal times to reflect my night owl lifestyle. We always go to bed late, and I am a fairly early riser...usually between 7:30 and 8:30 and we don't go to bed until about 12 or 12:30. So I have my breakfast when I get hungry...it that's when I first get up, great...if it isn't until 10 that's ok also. Then I have lunch about 2 or 3...around 5or 6 I have a small protein snack, and we don't eat dinner until about 9. There are times though that I am hungry in the evening...a yogurt usually takes care of that. As Bren said, you have been under a lot of stress the last couple of weeks...that alone WILL cause weight gain. So take a deep breath, give yourself a big ol' AGAPE style hug, and get back at it...you are no quitter, as Bren already pointed out, and I know you can do this. I love you, Bonnie...if you need me, just send me a pm...I am always here for you! HUGS and lots of love coming your way!

Since you know that is your routine, why don't you plan your meals accordingly? For example, if you eat at 6 PM, then save some of your calories and plan a light and healthy snack for 9 PM. Also, I find that a nice mug of herb tea in the evening helps get my mind off that bedtime snack.

Stef, you're a darling. I was just hoping for a loss this week and was disappointed. You know how that is. I've not been planning my meals the way I normally do and it has thrown me off kilter. I have a big crock pot of chili on and then rice after that. I need to get a lamb roast from my DIL so I can make another pot of my Middle Eastern Stew. Basically, I have to restock my freezer so it's not so easy to grab something unplanned when I get hungry. I'm so glad you all care! It gives me heart. Love you back Stef. Thanks for the hugs when I need them so badly.

You know what I like about your journal entry today???? You have recognized all the things that are not working for you. Do you know much easier it is to make changes when we know exactly what we have to work on? You know where your bad times are, you know what you have to do, and you're done it before!! Joanne you haven't wasted time, you're still here. Still journalling every day, be honest and faithful to your food tracking and keeping in touch with your support group. Celebrate your success's! Make the changes you know will get you back on a solid track! If you can't get to bed earlier, if staying up late is your thing??? Guess what save some calories for a snack in the evening, it really isn't the end of the if you eat after 7pm or 8pm... as long as it something small. Fruits, veggies, tea and one biscuit? It's when you eat a 300-500 calorie meal at 8pm that is going to cause you problems! Keep smiling and keep shining! I know you are going to get through this slump and get focused!!

Buffy, the problem is, I don't WANT for that to be my routine. When I stay up all night like that, I get nothing done the next day. I need to get back to my old routine of early to bed, early to rise. I feel better and function better that way. Thanks for stopping by!

I am quite lucky, I start work at 07.30, hubby at 07.00 (after a 50 minute commute), so we are up fairly early. Before comitting to a healthy life style, I never used to have breakfast, prefering the extra time in bed. These days I get up much earlier (05.50)and give myself plenty of time to really enjoy my breakfast without any rush. It is such a pleasure to start the day this way. It does mean that evenings are remarkably short. I'm home for 17.15, hubby 18.00 and we are usually in bed by 20.30 for half an hour of tv (nothing else...lol) It leaves little time to graze, for which I am very grateful. there is nothing quite as miserabl as going to bed hungry...makes me feel like a naughty child...lol.

Curly, bless you. You're exactly right. I will get past it. I'm using today to get back in focus, cook up and stock the freezer and get some short range, overdue projects done. By bedtime, I should be thoroughly worn out. LOL! I also need to restock my Weight Watchers Yogurt. That used to be my go-to bedtime snack. I won't be able to do that until tomorrow when my SS check comes in. Thanks to my wonderful son, I will be able to afford the yogurt again. Hugs my friend.

LOL! Di, when I was working, that was very much my schedule as well. Now that every day is pretty much the same, things tend to slip. It's amazing how much less efficient I am these days because I know I can "do it later." The problems come when I don't do it at all. :-) Speaking of which, I'm going to go switch out the crock pot to a batch of rice now. Be back later!

Sounds like you alright full swing into getting back on track! I knew you had a plan! It's okay don't worry too much about what has happened over the past few weeks, Look at you know you have slipped a bit and now you are surviving it! Proud of you!!

I am right with you, I did try for a few weeks to get to bed early and felt so much better but have slid back to going late and I don't feel so good at all, just don't understand why I can't just go to bed.....It is one of the bad habits I am trying to break, just don't get why I can't go to bed....crazy.

Thank you Curly! Yvonne, I know. I can be sleepy all afternoon and, somehow, when bedtime rolls around, I get busy and the next thing I know it's after midnight. It makes no sense at all.

Hey Bonnie! This is a late response but you are just a rebellion at heart, like me. Hee Hee! You are your own keeper, so be kind to yourself and get up early and even though you catch a second wind at night.... (even if you have to set an alarm to remind you to go to bed) start getting yourself ready for bed. One thing I have done that has helped me more than anything else is taking a Melatonin pill. I am in bed within 30 minutes and sleeping. I have mentioned this to you before. It's all herbal. I bought mine at a Sams Club.
