Friday, 3/24 Steps = 16,887

Love the steps but not the pain in my feet yesterday. First my usual 4 mile walk, but then a trip to a big outlet mall. Too much time on hard pavement and floors but I hope I burned a lot of calories.

Take care of your feet! I have a question for you about steps. How many do you figure are in a mile of walking? I know we are all different heights and have different steps lengths so I am looking for a rough number. Thanks.

I know that for me 4 miles is between 8k and 9k steps. Every morning I give my dogs a short walk, then I do an actual 'exercise walk' of just over 4 miles. I measured my route with a GPS so I know it's accurate. When I get back I generally have a little over 10k miles on my pedometer. Anything over 10k for the day is attributed to non exercise activities. Right now I use just a simple pedometer but I make sure to keep it on from the time I get up til the time I go to bed. I'm thinking about a Fitbit to get some of the other features like heart rate. I don't walk very fast, but maybe I could push a little harder if I was watching my heart rate.
