Bible Bliss's Journal, 22 January 2012

Hello Sunday!
"It's a new day and it's going to be great." My mantra - already feels in effect. ;-)

Trying Atkins this week. Wonder if my body will burn more of its fat, as they claim, and less carbs for fuel? Would be nice. ;-) Curious about cutting back carbs to 20g net per day, 12-15 of them as "foundation" vegetables (interesting that carrots and parsnips not on the "Acceptable Foods" list for Phase 1). Will follow the rules carefully this week to see what the program can really do.

Already astonished at how much protein there is in an egg white lol. My breakfast omelette came in at 6g carbs and a whopping 24g of protein. Like that ratio lol.

Cold virus still hijacking my energy levels. Want to go to gym and do 30 mins on elliptical before sunday's desk work begins. End of term next week and reports cards need to be in by Friday.

Hope everyone has a good day. Peace. :)

That's great you are giving Atkins a shot! If you need any motivation or tips, just ask. Two things I am going.g to mention: Atkins.s recommends not working out for 2to 3 weeks if you are starting with the Induction phase because it takes time for your body to adjust and it can be too hard for many to work out at first. Second, be aware of the Atkins flu, which is a common side effect when you first start. I got it and basically felt crappy for a couple of days. Had a migraine and felt like I was coming down with something. It is normal in this adjustment period and will pass. A tip: A cup of chicken broth in the morning.g and evening because you are losing sodium, and lots of water. Carrots have a higher content of natural sugar is why they are not allowed. Sorry for the long post. I am rooting for you!

Hey, Maria....glad to hear you are going to try the low carb lifestyle for a while. I really think you will like it once your body gets used to using fat for fuel, rather than carbs. Good luck, and if I can help, please let me know! Have a great week, and good luck! Hugs!

Your motivation and tips always appreciated!! Thanks for stopping by.;-) Stef: Sounds like you are familiar with the no carb lifestyle. Scary to give up my favorite foods but just for a while. Hope you have a good week too. Hugs back!! ;-)

Hope the cold is getting better and you are starting to feel more energetic. I'm thinking that perhaps I might look into some different eating plans. Maybe a shake up would be good for me. Hope you had a great weekend Maria!!

Once the "on" switch flips, look out for Cathy lol!! Love that you are getting started. A regular exercise routine was always your ticket to ride - we have that in common. ;-) The crappy weather outside and my longer morning commutes have interrupted the momentum. Here's to discipline - yah for us!!!
