I'm not sure if it does I'm on zoloft for anxiety, and I know it put weight on me, I think it depends on the person. But I have lost some weight and I'm still on it. Best of Luck 

Hi, I was also on Zoloft and it really does depend on the person and the dosage. It can cause weight gain for some people. I'm not so sure about Lexapro. Google it and look at the side affects. If it is an SSRI, it you may find that you can have an initial weight gain. Zoloft was really bad for me. I gained weight like crazy and lost it as soon as I went off. I had a great doctor who was a specialist in antidepressants and switched me to EffexorXR. I lost 25 pounds immediately. Again, that was me. It is very dependent upon the person. The one thing I learned through all of this is that the process of finding the right drug and the right dosage is more of an art than a science. People metabolize the drugs so differently that your doctor must be willing to work with you and have the experience to understand that you may be the best judge of whether or not something is working well. The best thing was that I got rid of the depression and anxiety that was keeping me from finding the energy and motivation to move ahead. So even if you gain weight iniitially, it does not mean that you will keep gaining. You might find that as you get rid of your anixiety, you feel better and more energized and that alone will motivate you to eat less an exercise. The big thing is to take it as directed and don't give up. If your doctor doesn't listen or your not getting results, get a referral to someone who is a specialist. You're quality of life will be well worth it!
