Mariska Malemes's Journal, 02 March 2017

The past three days have been good. Normally I would write everything down and obsess about it. Now I am just "mindful" of what I put in my mouth.

This time, I started with me giving up cow's milk in my coffee, which I've done for 25+ years. I have been reading some info about how we don't need cow's milk and hThis only being ps that do are calves and perhaps baby humans.

So, I replaced my morning milk in my coffee with nut milks like cashew and almond (unsweetened, of course) and have been making sure I don't eat anything with sugar added or add any sugar to anything.

I truly believe sugar is the root of all obesity and overweightedness.

So, I am "back on th the chart" and this makes me happy. The chart is a self-created tracking of my weight going down and is right next to my treadmill in my "workiout" room.

I've also been eating a very small lunch, a relatively hearty breakfast, and a lean, healthy, vitamin packed dinner. I discovered making salads with plenty of textures and flavor and I live the variety of that.

It seems to be working! I feel confident that this is a lifestyle change and will work!

I really like your "countdown" chart! Though I'm not sure if you are using it this way, it seems to me that it would get a person out of the mindset of being a certain weight by a certain date. With this the focus is just getting to the goal, no matter how long it takes. And isn't that the main point?

I love your chart idea! I track my weight on like 3 apps, and in a note on my phone. But I really dig your way, too.

Great job! And I too have recently discovered almond milk (and cashew milk). They are very low calorie in the preferred unsweetened form, and the ones I use are high in calcium, higher than milk, probably fortified.

Thinking more about your chart, it gives you the sense that you have defeated that weight as you X it out. That delights me!

Thank you to all of you! Wow! The circles represent when I can "treat" myself with a pedi or massage, etc. Thank you for all the comments and support. It really helps!

OKay Mariska, you have inspired me! I made a chart like yours all neatly ruled off on a big piece of chart paper with boxes from 200 to 150. I even circled some reward goals like yours! I'm hoping to cross off my first number tomorrow! I posted it on the back of the bathroom door by my scale. I think it will be very motivating. Thank you for the inspiration! I think I'll opt for a massage for my reward. Let's go!
