FloridaAngel's Journal, 22 February 2017

I went to dinner with my family and decided to have dessert, no food just dessert. Seemed weird but I figured what the heck, its probably the same calories as a burger : ) (And half the calories of having dinner AND dessert!) FS and the support here has given me a new outlook : )

Too much carb and fat in dessert. Need more protein for balance but the numbers don't lie if you skipped the dinner you can lose weight eating dessert. Sugar spoils the appetite just that your overload with sugar not enough nutrient density. Think fruits much healthier if you like dessert.

@johnmarth, I guess you gotta be a girl, to understand the dessert thing -- you're right about the fruit, but sometimes the fat just calls to us. ; )

In fact I once thought i could design an "ice cream diet" and it'd be on all the women's mags. LOL

I'm going to design a 30 day dessert diet that states you can lose weight eating cake and ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner you just only get one scoop and a small piece cake for each meal portion control.

Eating dessert instead of nutritious food all the time is not a good idea, but once in a while it can be a treat for being otherwise so good. I say go for it on occasion!

Haha @stringofpearls, exactly. I forgot what dessert tastes like, was almost hugging myself. Pretty sure I caught a buzz off of it. @johnmarth, may work as long as you use more calories then you eat. I stopped eating sugar completely so this is not a habit. Just looked around at everyone eating a meal and dessert and realized why we get so fat so quickly.

Raising my kids, one night each summer, when it was too hot to cook, we'd go out for banana splits for dinner, because who has room for one after a meal. It's gotta be the whole meal, right!

Love the sentiment in the poster.

It's maybe going to knock you off kilter for a few days but it's not going to undo all the wonderful work you've managed to get where you are now ... unless you let it. And Hey! Why not have a day when you do all the wrong things - I bet no one really moans at the guys who have a beer day because it's an important football match (yes, a stereotype but so was women and cakes). OK, personally I'm with the guys and beer rather than the cake or dessert but I think you know where I'm coming from :D

I think that the childhood programming that you must finish your dinner before having any dessert has contributed to my weight gain over the years* so I totally applaud your choice. *until I figured out it made no sense for an adult
