The best advice I have been told is to just go in and make it your own. The more often you go to lift, the more comfortable you will feel. Besides, I find no one is even paying attention:)

Hey! Don't be scared to blaze your own path at the gym! Every successful person has had to face a challenge whether it be anxiety, nutrition, motivation.....but overcoming has proved to them that they can do whatever it is they believe they can do!! Its true, no one is really watching. Maybe a glance to see if the machine is free but really, you can do it! I myself made friends with a few people at the gym so that I could express my stage fright, and what I got was a mini support system of people who reassured me they had all been in my position. I rotate areas of my body. Leg day, mid section and back, and upper body. I use my weekends solely for cardio. I look at the machine and what it targets, and I go for it. At home I add free weights to my nightly workout. Its not as intense but my kids do it with me and cheer me on. I am weighing daily, taking weekly progress pics...I want this more than anything. I have been a fat kid my whole life and I really want to break that cycle for me and my kids.
