Does anyone put a curfew on eating?

I've always been a night owl and therefore have later lunch and later dinners...and always seem to want something to munch around 10/11pm. Tonight, I had that pang. Stopped myself (who knew!) and thought: what if I try to NOT eat after dinner or dessert anymore. Could I survive? Yes.
Do I really need to do that? Yes, enough with the denial already, my gosh I'm on the border of obese (178#) for my height (5'8").

So, other than brushing teeth - does anyone have ideas for distractions or ways to stay true to this idea of food curfew?
Has anyone noticed changes after committing to this?

A cup of herbal sleepy time tea before bed makes a nice nightly ritual. - with 0 calories.

I do the teeth brushing thing right after dinner; then, I put all food away and stick to herbal tea until I go to bed.

I typically stop eating by around 7:30-8pm as my ritual. I typically sleep better and it helps me on 16:8 fasting days. I'll drink water and tea to help curb the cravings, or only eat plain popped corn or a rice cake. I also found doing something that engages your mind other than tv helps. I.e. I'll either read or work on an adult coloring book 😁. Seems trivial, but it works.

My eating window is from 10am-7pm. The weight I wanted to lose came off when I started IF, and I've gotten used to it so decided to keep it up 🌝

Yep! I eat from 10AM - 3PM. Only water after that.

Yes, you really need to do this if you don't want to end up obese. I was very close like yourself. Late dinners are a killer and so is late night snacking. Nip it now. Kitchen is closed after 8 pm for me. If I feel hungry I sip herbal tea or water. You can also try Meditation or Yoga in the evenings. It may make you so relaxed that you just go to bed.

I will drink a low carb hot cocoa with a bit of whipped cream in it. It totally stops the cravings and helps me sleep better, too.

So many great ideas - thank you! Your actual stories of what you do/did and the results are soooo helpful and motivating. Thanks tons, FSBs (fat secret buddies)!!

Try herbal tea or decaf coffee with two spoonfuls of unsweetened powdered cocoa in it. Also, if utili can bare it, you can mix two spoonfuls of unsweetened cocoa with a little liquid glycerin (the edible kind, the one they sell in pharmacies for constipation problems). Take it like medicine: it will stop your craving, give your mood a body and help you sleeping. After that, drink a nice big cup of warm herbal tea (unsweetened) or just warm water. Let me know how it goes!!

After dinner I usually don't have many calories left. If I do the amount is so small I don't want to take the time to figure out what to eat. So I just gut it out. Maybe some water. Boring I know.

@ OnAMission2Me, I agree. the FS community is AWESOME!!!! I've been on diets for almost 50 years. My mom started me on one at 5 years old. She said she was a fat child so she wasn't going to have a fat child. We need to be very careful what we say to our children. I rebelled for years and gorged on candy, cake, ice cream, etc. Now I'm doing it for me and the stories and ideas here have been very helpful. Dr Jason Fung is a Godsend. He's taught me alot.

Those baby carrots are really good. They are low calorie and actually crunch.

I know this sounds like something that won't always help, but making sure to get veggies in helps, I'll warm up broccoli or cauliflower to fill up on. If I don't want that, I'm not that hungry.
