heidij123's Journal, 05 December 2016

My week started badly food-wise, but I got my act together towards the end, so managed a small loss. I have set myself a private challenge hereon FS for four weeks starting today, with some mini-challenges that are very specific to me, as I still want to reach 139lbs before the end of the year, and don't want to get side-tracked by Christmas. They include:

- Maintain an average calorie deficit of 500 cals per day. Any high-calorie days to be followed by low-calorie days to maintain the average.

- Reduce consumption of my regular bread, biscuits and tinned fruit to help with the deficit.

- Limit intake of Christmas goodies to 1 per week. Think: 'goodies are baddies'.

- Minimise alcohol intake. I do like a drink, but really need to drink as little as I can manage.

- Accept that I might need to be a little bit hungry some of the time.

I have also set a slightly lower RDI for myself (1200 cals, it was 1300) as a reminder not to overeat, and increased my exercise goal to 4 hours walking (or similar exercise) per week, which I know I can comfortably do now. As my calorie output without exercise is now around 1560, I do need to do both of these things to achieve a 500 per day deficit.

Once I've reached 139lbs, I will ease off a bit. My final goal is 135lbs, but I won't be rushing to get there. End of March would be fine. Wish me luck, buddies!

Sounds like a great plan! You've obviously thought it all through. I'm too much of a one for going with the flow about going out or what to eat. I really could do with some of your mindfulness! Good luck.

You sound positive and upbeat so I know that you will achieve your goal. Good to plan in for Xmas treats as that will help you. I know March seems a long way off but it will be here soon enough. You have inspired me once again. I would not be still here had it not been for consistent encouragement. I thought you needed to know that. Have a great day 💯💯💯

Thanks folks! Snoop I like to go with the flow too, but then get impatient and want to see more progress for a time. Also I don't want to go backwards right now, and it's a tricky time of year, so a kick in the butt to go forwards seems like the best way to avoid that!

Mrs M, I totally agree that having buddies makes all this possible. I have been inspired and encouraged by many people over the last 17 months, including your enthusiastic and fun-loving self, and it is certainly nice to hear that one's can inspire others too 😀😀😀

Good planning!! I, on the other hand, have no plan whatsoever apart from "damage limitation" and trying to avoid too much temptation over the next month! Eeek!

Thanks both, and Maria, anyone who can wait over a month for a cream tea is a real hero in my book!

Dear Heidi, You know that I always support you. I have a suggestion about minimizing the alcohol intake. I find that if I pour some flavored, no carb sparkling water into a beautiful glass that I feel less denied of my "liquid reward." I wish that today we were having lunch at the River Room Restaurant again. That is such a pleasant memory!

Hey Heidi, that sounds like a good plan, I always find drinking water helps too, especially if you've had alcohol x

Thank you all, buddies 😀😀😀 Brenda, I just can't fool myself like that, though I do drink diet Coke on occasion. Just hard to avoid putting some rum in there sometimes 😋 But at least I only drink when I go out now, which I am limiting at the moment. And Jo, I do put water in my drink to slow me down, and also have a glass of water on the side! Hope you are well x
