Major plans for 2012!!!

I have been missing for a few weeks. I have not been good about recording my food and not been good with water and not been exactly perfect with food. Now I promise I have not gone crazy with the carb stuff but I did have some chili and some popcorn and a couple teaspoons of homemade pudding maybe 3 or 4 tablespoons to be more accurate. But given all of that - I have achieved the goal I set many weeks ago for Christmas. Santa brought me a pair of Miss Me jeans size 29 and I cna wear them!!!!!! All I can say is WooHoo!!!! I am doing the happy dance.

But I have not achieved my other goal of being healthier. I still take 2 blood pressure meds, a cholesterol med, a diabetic med and muscle relaxers for my head and neck pain. So while I am no longer on 3 BP meds, I have not gotten off them as I had hoped. Going into 2012 I have to think about this and figure out how to be healthier by Christmas 2012. I have been thinking about it a great deal.

I have decided that I would like to join the 3-day Walk for the Cure. I had an Aunt who passed away from Breast Cancer many years ago and I would like to do it for her. I thought about it several years ago but backed out because you have to raise so much money. This time, I am going to really try to do it. I have 2 friends who are also on board. Problem is - how do you raise $2,300 each person? If any of you have had experience with this, please let me know. If you would like to join us, let me know. If you would be willing to contribute, please let me know. I understand that they have a website that you can use for contributions and that they say most participants raise more than is necessary but I don't have that kind of cash laying around. it is really hard because you have to put up the money yourself when you register. I can't do that. But I feel this need to do this thing!

Anyway, I've been looking up how to prepare to walk a Marathon and I know that the 3-day people give you training schedules. I believe I can do this and plan to get started. I may set up a challenge group for anyone who wants to join me. Wish I knew how to blog - the journey from being a couch potato to walking 60 miles will likely be a difficult one and somethng t record. i will keep you posted.

Reach out to the online community on that site... they will help you figure out how to get started without the cash outlay! I had a gf who did this a couple of years ago...and at the day of registration, there were women there with TONS of checks in donations that they didn't need for their $2,300 total (they got more donations than needed) and they were giving them away to other women to help them total up to their goals! (women are ingenius!) So no worries... go for it! And much love to your family and you for thinking of your aunt and wanting to honor her this way!!!

Thanks Paula. That information is encouraging. My holiday was a good one. Nothing overwhelming. My DD and i spent Christmas alone and I made a pot of chili. it was not exactly low carb but not too far off. i did not have a computer and could not check too many receipes. I also made him a homemade banana pudding which I tasted a bit too much. But he has enjoyed it and I only tasted it on the ay I made it. :) We spent Christmas alone and went to the movies. My grandmother had Christmas at her house but I really just did not want to go. I dreaded the food and just was not really into Christmas this year and so they allowed me to not attend the lunch. We stopped by for a brief visit after the movie :) I was really down this year and I am not certain why. Part of it was having been gone for the 3 weeks after thanksgiving and not decorating the house. Part of it was the fact that I did not have a tree - last year the tree fell with my collection of Christopher Radko ornaments and broke alamost every one of them. About a 30 year collection. part of it was possibly the loss of the DDs mother. I think I am also realizing the age of my grandmother and worrying about that on some level. Regaardless, i did not have a merry christmas but a good one. Hope yours was everything you wanted.
