BuffyBear's Journal, 18 December 2011

Now that I'm (almost) ready for Christmas, I've been pondering New Year's Resolutions. I have started taking them very seriously and find I do best if I only concentrate on one thing at a time.

Two years ago I resolved to give up diet soda - and did. One year ago I resolved to lose weight by switching to a structured diet - and did (although not as successfully as I had hoped).

Have lots of choices for this year's Resolution, but these two bad habits stick out above the rest:
1) Excessive use of Artificial Sweeteners
2) Lack of exercise

Since I cannot choose between the two of them, I think I need to pick both - so if I'm in a foul mood come January 1st you'll all know why - no sweetener in my coffee!

Diet Calendar Entry for 18 December 2011:

MOM2Boxers - You had mentioned fond memories of the Chex Mix - I think that had something to do with my reaction to it. But now, I believe the Chex Mix debacle is behind me.

Hewelis - Just letting you know I saw your comments on my journal of yesterday and appreciate them. You, GG, Tracy and so many others (I'd run out of room if I mentioned you all) on here are so faithful to your exercise program. You are such a great encouragement for me. I know with your help I can get into the habit.

Buffy sound like 2 good choices to me... I could also think about eliminating artifical sweetners, plus a few other things. i better get started on what I'm going to do for New Year Resolution...

Notfast - Take it easy - you have plenty of time to come up with something meaningful for you. BTW - you are one of the faithful exercisers I was referring to (in my comment to Hewelis).

Exercise is definintely going to be one of mine as well. And hopefully if not right at the new year, at least at some point next year, I WILL stop smoking.

Yvonne - Sounds like you are well on your way to meeting last years goal. And, as for your house, that is great! I yearn for order - just never quite get there.

Excellent choices Buffy!!! I gave up artificial sweeteners years ago when I read about the long term damage and side effects they have - perhaps do some searching and read some of the studies that have been done to put your mind in the right direction, so it does not feel like you are punishing it by withholding something it feels is good. Exercise I am with you on that one - I plan to get fully into it next year and you know what - it is the first time in my life I know I will succeed next year in getting fitter and getting so much closer to my ideal weight (perhaps even reaching it!!!) - we are in it together and with a fab team like ours....how can we fail :)

Maybe you could initially alternate the resolutions by day....Monday exercise, Tuesday no artificial sweeteners, etc. No worries about dropping the sweeteners anyway.....'CUZ YOU'RE ALREADY SWEET ENOUGH!!!!!
