If you are supposed to take levothyroxine, you need thyroid hormone that your body is not producing. I would get an appointment to a specialist to check on that because a lot of doctors don't actually know what they are doing when it comes to thyroid. Especially if you are gaining weight, your thyroid levels are probably too low, and also the higher cholesterol level is an indicator that your thyroid levels are too low. If your thyroid levels are too low you will gain weight and will not be able to lose. Good luck!

I have been taking Synthroid for 35 years. I have it checked twice a year because I get cold very easily. If I miss a dose I gain weight, so I take it first thing every morning. I have been on and off Atkins since I was 23 and I'm 66 now. At 5' 3" I have been as heavy as 150. That was during a stressful job 3 years ago. I am now doing well--down to 133 today. I stick to LCHF, but I have had the most success with "The Low Carb Protocol" on Facebook. Check it out. It includes fasting occasionally to successfully reach small goals. I have fasted 3 times since September and it gets easier each time. I wish you lots of success!

I work with an endocrinologist - they know alternate ways to help. Great numbers!

Rhontique, that may have been a joke about the 6 months but sorry!! That's not funny.

I mean he make me come in and do my labs every 6 months instead of only once a year. In reference to your opening line it sounds like you get to go for your labs annually.

Sorry no I get labs every 6 months also. Just for the T3.
