Well, I guess I had a binge. No, I KNOW I had a binge. I blame myself for letting my lizard brain take over in a big way. Sometime when you are in a situation that stresses you out beyond your normal levels, you reach back to what got you through it. For me, this was binge eating.

Your lizard brain remembers, "ahhh, yes, don't worry, I got ya covered. You can binge eat your way through this weekend so you don't have to feel anything."

I allowed it b/c frankly, I was tired of dealing with it. But now I am sure my blood sugar is through the roof. My stomach hurts. I am going to gain water weight and maybe a real pound or two. Those are the consequences.

I recorded the food. I faced up to what I did. I stopped eating. Now I just need to continue on. There are only two choices: beat yourself up and quit or pick yourself up and continue. I choose to continue and try to recognize the situation in the future and choose a different response.

I will be here for 2 more full days so I have plenty of time to practice.

What a bummer. :(

No point in mental self mutilation just see what happened and why, and get back to the process.

Delete the troll, then delete this. He is a jerk.

Been there. It happens to all of us. You will come out the other side of this just fine. Will you gain water? Yes. Will you gain fat? Maaaaybe. Find out what the scale says after a full week on plan. That will tell the tale.

I've done the same thing with the crackers before. I used to make a meal of them sometimes. So now, just move on. I agree with Lady, delete the troll and then this chain if you want. If you don't remember that he's only here on the weekends so don't let him get to you.

Hi everyone! Thanks for your kind comments. I am just forgetting this day and moving on. I still feel gross but that will pass soon too! Sometimes it's hard to be in situations where you used to rely on binge eating to get through it. I have done pretty good in many situations but this one I let get me. Thanks buddies!

I looked at your meals and you keep going back and forth between 1500 cal and then half that. You need to be consistency, if you're too low eat more, if you don't you will binge.

@tj Hi TJ - I do IF, intermittent fasting that is why its 1500 then 500 every other day. I do it to help with insulin resistance.

When I binge I've started really looking at what was going on at the time I made the decision to let loose. For me, it usually pertains to worry about my daughter **sigh**. I've been trying to be more aware of my feelings so it doesn't "sneak" up on me and off I go.....

Yeah, my mom has been sick and she is pretty mean right now. It difficult to try to take care of someone while you are working and they don't appreciate it and act very childish at time. I believe in taking care of my parents despite difficulty, but sometimes it can get to you! I am working from my parents instead of my office which is hard to do also. I have been very good at dealing with daily stress of work, etc. but this is above and beyond. So, I will be here until Monday night and then 6 hour drive back to my place.

I just met with Erika and she gave me some tips for how to deal with "bingeyness." She suggested finding foods I enjoy with very high fat content. She suggested brie cheese, heavy cream, 90% chocolate, and almond butter. I headed right for the co-op and came home with the cream, 88% chocolate, and almond butter. I am going to give it a try. Also, will put butter on my veggies. I have been having a hard time the past couple days and have not been logging all my food. I'm right there with you!

What's better than that is Greek yogurt.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will go visit my local co-op and see what I can come up with!

Draglist- I use to eat one at bed time and yes in moderation is a very good idea, light greek yogurt is the best.

@LadyinDenim, I think the WHY of the binge is very important. If it is hunger, then yes high fat foods can certainly stop a binge in it's tracks. Unfortunately for me, that is not usually the case. I have found it is more of a "mental" thing going on and once started it's almost like auto-pilot is on and food going in....

@Draglist, I have read that yogurt "loses" some of the carbs over time because of the live cultures. So what's on the package is not correct depending on when you eat it. No idea if this is true or not, maybe wishful thinking....:-)

Agreed Greek is the best !

I disagree. When I feel bingey, it has nothing at all to do with hunger. I rarely feel hungry anymore. Last evening, I felt a bit anxious and "bingey." I ate a measured portion of the 88% chocolate and that did the trick. I then ate a plan dinner, adding two TB butter to my stir fry. Later, I felt the binge monster again, (not hungry), and ate four more squares of chocolate. It worked. Try it. Try a high fat something you like when you feel bingey. I had to try it, because I was WAY off the track. I was Dairy Queen and Bunny snacks off the track.
