Hey Chakalina's Journal, 04 October 2016

I quit smoking 10 days ago on the eve of my 40th birthday.
I've been eating too much food.
I've been drinking too much alcohol.
I made meals for tomorrow.
I need to record my calories.
I can't let this get away from me.
I hope I have the strength to be back.

GREAT Job on quiting smoking! It's almost expected that we will gain a bit, right? I quit 3 months ago and put on 12 lbs! However, I reined it in and put myself on a diet. Much better at monitoring and NOT sticking things in my mouth without thinking. You can do this! I'm down 7... :-)

I stopped smoking 3 packs a day 22 years ago after 3 tries. I started jogging which is the only way I was able to keep from going back and gaming weight. I am not saying you have to jog but maybe join a gym to work all that tension off and wanted to eat. I dont run anymore and put on 65 pounds over the last 10 years. I joined a ymca and am now losing about a pound a week.

the trade off is worth the extra weight at this point. Tackle one issue at a time. Weigh daily and allow yourself no more that the "post smoking" -"freshman 15" that's 15lbs max. Instead of eating, find something else to take the edge off, get up and take a quick walk, write in your journal about how you are feeling in the moment, you will find trends and then you can focus on those triggers and work to avoid them in the future. Good job and good luck!

You will find your way. The FIRST step is acknowledgement of the problem, which you have done.
