Great news, to-day I found a selection of spaghetti substitutes in Aldi. Their new range is:

Spiralised Courgette Spaghetti - 250 grams
Spiralised Butternut Spaghetti – 250 grams
Spiralised Sweet Potato Spaghetti – 250 grams

I tried the Courgette spaghetti first it made two servings. To which was added three ounces of weight watchers bolognaise in a red wine sauce plus ½ an ounce of grated extra mature full fat cheddar.

It was a big hit with Lulu Lowcarb and I found it a great alternative to the pasta I was so missing.

The Macros on the mix was…..

Per 125 gram serving

Fat = 5.04 grams
Carbs = 6.51 grams
Protein = 5.96 grams
Sugar = 2.15 grams
Calories= 90

The Courgette Spaghetti is really good. I'll be interested to know what you thought of the other two. I like cauliflower rice too - more than ordinary rice!

The other two spaghetti substitutes are sitting in the fridge. I’ll probably try another tomorrow. I haven’t tried the cauliflower rice yet, but did use cauli in a mix for the base of a pepperoni pizza mixed with grated mozzarella cheese to make the base and that was mouth wateringly delicious. We must make another soon. :o)

I just heated the cauliflower rice in a large frying pan with a little butter for about a minute or two, at the most. I like it "al dente". The pizza base sounds lovely.

Think i will give them a try, especially as they are low in carbs

And if you are going to make them a regular food then may I suggest buying a spiralizer. The ready spiralised are a way to find out if you like it but are not cost effective in the long run. Good luck.

The spiralized veg is a great! I usually mix a wee bit of spaghetti through it to add a bit of texture and to help fill me up. The main problem I find is that it goes off really quickly so don't buy too much in one go. (or get a spiralizer as above)

I think you are all correct about the spiralizer. It makes sense to buy one and make our own pseudo spaghetti afresh; as Wednesday panned out I never got a chance to try the others. The sun was shining and I had a day out. I am sure it will keep until Thursday. Whoo hooo this being retired lark is great fun. :)
