Abinidab's Journal, 28 November 2011

I don't know how I managed to do it but somehow I managed to shed 5 pounds even during Turkey week. I drank like a fish and ate like a pig on Thanksgiving day. Other than that I did stick to my diet religiously.

I'm beginning to think that I'm starting to lose some of my muscle mass. This is why I recently purchased one of those body fat calipers. This way I can calculate whether I'm losing muscle or fat.
221.0 lb Lost so far: 24.0 lb.    Still to go: 21.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Wow! Congrats on the weight loss! That's awesome! Where do you get the body fat calibers? That sounds like a good idea.

Actually I found the one I bought at GNC. They had a couple different brands and I just got the cheapest. It was around $20. The other models were digital and were around $50. As I understand it the calipers tell you what percent of your weight is fat. This also lets you determine what percent of your weight is considered lean mass (muscle, bone, organs, etc). Obviously you want body fat percentage to drop. However you DO NOT want your lean mass to drop which indicates that your body is losing muscle tissue. Its better if your lean mass remains constant OR even if it increases while you're dieting.
