abbadabba's Journal, 13 September 2016

I have lost 15 pounds since the 4th of July this year, 11 weeks. My trainer is actually surprised I haven't lost more, but I have just figured out what I am doing this week, so watch out!

What does surprise me, actually, is the number of people who want to know what I am doing (successfully) to lose weight, and then choose to argue with me about how ineffective some part of the strategy is. I guess I just have to add "for them" in my mind when someone says "oh, that won't work" and add "if you are like me" when they say "you can lose it but you can't keep it off".

And in the long run, I won't be able to keep up this pace - it's like a part-time job losing 2 pounds a week, seriously. But I will get to a point where I am at my goal weight and can cut back on some of the exercise (not 2 hours daily!) and will be much stronger with more calorie-burning muscles.

Hope you are having a great week!

I had a coworker draw me aside today to ask, "What's your secret?". When I told him about LCHF. He said, "oh, I could never give up my spaghetti!" So, I said, "What about sugar!" He: "but that's my favorite stuff!" I guess he's not ready to face the problem yet. You can speak the truth, but people are attached to their habits and comfort foods. We all know it takes some attitude adjustment to get serious about weight loss.

We all have stories like yours and Erika's. You can only offer what's worked for you, you can't make them accept it. You just keep doing YOU, and let them think what they will. And congrats on where you are!

Congratulations on the weight loss. I so agree with you Erika. I used to avoid topics on religion and politics. Time to include what I'm doing to lose weight. Lol Proud of your hard work and dedication to get healthy. Keep up the good work.

I try to only discuss it when people ask. And even then give them plenty of opportunities to redirect the conversation. People get uncomfortable if they have a lot of weight to lose and bored if they don't. for us it's a bit of an obsession, by necessity. A hobby!

I've been called a "freak of nature"! If it means I get to occasionally have pizza, beer, and cake, I'll have a Freak t-shirt printed and wear it proudly. Size "L" now and not the 2X anymore.

That is so true - they ask and then when you tell your method, they question it.
