Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back.
It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings....

DO YOU KNOW.. The difference between margarine and butter?
Read on to the end...gets very interesting!

Both have the same amount of calories.

Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams; compared to5 grams for margarine.

Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.

Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.
Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and only because they are added!
Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.

Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.

And now, for Margarine..
Very High in Trans fatty acids.
Triples risk of coronary heart disease ...
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)

Increases the risk of cancers up to five times..

Lowers quality of breast milk

Decreases immune response.

Decreases insulin response.

And here's the most disturbing fact... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC... and shares 27 ingredients with PAINT

These facts alone were enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).

Open a tub of margarine and leave it open in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will notice a couple of things:

* no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)

* it does not rot or smell differently because it has no value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny micro-organisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

Share This With Your Friends.....(If you want to butter them up')!

Chinese Proverb:

When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others.

Pass the BUTTER PLEASE

You are absolutely right, Sheri! Thank you for posting this! People, eat whole, REAL food! Keep this in mind....if there's an ad for it, it's not good for you! Low fat anything has tons of sugar and chemicals, because fat is what makes food taste good.

You have been misinformed about the origin of margarine. It is primarily vegetable oil and water and was developed in the 1800s as a butter substitute which the middle and lower class could afford.

http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/butter.asp This is just a silly chain letter. Margarine was not invented to feed turkeys. And overall, margarine IS better for your heart because it has lots of unsaturated fats (the kind you want). It's the trans fat in margarine that you want to limit, but some brands don't have as much -- soft margarine spreads are better for you than stick margarine. Trans fats are also in fried foods, potato chips, cake, pies -- anything with partially hydrogenated oil or vegetable shortening. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/expert-answers/butter-vs-margarine/faq-20058152

The POSTING was from a friend on facebook. I do not think all this is true but I do believe it MARARGINE is horrible for you. Try putting your margarine outside and see what if anything is attracted to it. Scientifically it is 1 molecule away from plastic. Parts of this article are true...very true. Its personal choice. I have given up Margarine....my HDL is lowered 70%....that speaks for it self. My weight loss is a factor and my blood pressure is lower than my 18 year old. I have a cardiologist, neurologist and internist on my side and BUTTER IS BETTER. We have been misinformed for years from the Pharma, doctors and the manufactures because they make more money on prescribing a STATIN for our cholesterol and HB. Just wanted to share some information that was it.

Oh thank gosh! I really was scared! When I read it I thought about the vegetable oil part, but was too hooked on you saying it being plastic that I guess I had the wool pulled over my eyes. Thank you for for correcting. I don't think I'll eat it anyways though...

Always hated margarine. Dr. Fung has some interesting things to say about it in his book, too. Natural all the way.

If I knew how to post picture on this I have plenty to show you. I have been eating LCHF for 8 mos my doctors as I stated before. A specialist in Diabeties, Neurologist, and Internist oh ya and my family practitioner. Have all stated I am in the best state of health in my life. I Have lost 11 inches on my waist and 14 on my hips. My blood sugar is perfect. HDL levels perfect. Menopause has stopped in its tracks. BUTTER IS NOT PROCESSED.....remember the field trips you took in school to the old farms and churned it??? I eat natural. This was a topic on margarine not an essay on who knows what.

I read about that years ago. I buy real butter and don't do soda hardly but if I do you might as well go for the real thing because the chemicals in diet soda or diet anything is bad.
